If you’ve just splashed out on a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone you might want to avoid the news early next year.

Anyone who has recently purchased a shiny new Galaxy smartphone probably won’t like the latest update to come from Samsung. The Korean firm always unleashes new flagship devices at the start of every year and it seems 2025 will be no different. Rumours have been rife that a fully rebooted Galaxy S25 is on its way and now it seems those whispers are totally correct.

As spotted by the team at Android Central, it appears Samsung gave its upcoming smartphone a surprise name check during an earnings call and presentation.

“Based on the advancement of Galaxy AI, MX plans to promote flagship-oriented sales growth and profitability improvement such as Galaxy S25 series and foldable, while also expanding sales of ecosystem products such as Galaxy Tab, Book and Wearable,” the report, which has been translated to English from Korean, confirmed.

“The Galaxy S25 series, which will be released in the first half of next year, plans to lead daily innovation by increasing the experience perfection of Galaxy AI and expand sales by strengthening marketing and experience programs.”

Although no official date has been exposed, if Samsung follows previous years we could see its latest Galaxy S25 phone uncovered as early as January.

It’s likely that the new range of devices will get the all-new Snapdragon 8 Elite processor tucked inside which could make them some of the fastest phones on the planet.

Announced last month by Qualcomm, this chip certainly seems like a bit of a show stopper with it promising 45% power improvements whilst making things far more efficient. That should mean phones using the Elite will be much way quicker whilst using a lot less battery power.

Along with that improved performance, expect to see better rear cameras, faster charging and smarter Galaxy AI features also appearing on these devices.

New designs and additional colours may also be headline upgrades along with even tougher glass to help avoid cracks and smashes.

Full details could be revealed in the coming months and if you are thinking of buying an S24 in the upcoming Black Friday sales beware as something better is arriving soon.
