Sean Teale plays nurse Tristan Silva in Doctor Odyssey

Doctor Odyssey: Official trailer

British actor Sean Teale is making a splash as he returns to our TV screens in the thrilling new Ryan Murphy medical drama, Doctor Odyssey. The 32-year-old heartthrob stars as nurse Tristan Silva, joining forces with Joshua Jackson and Phillipa Soo aboard a luxury cruise ship, The Odyssey.

Amidst treating unique medical cases, the series has already had viewers on the edge of their seats with eight episodes and a jaw-dropping mid-season cliff-hanger.

In the first half of season one, things got heated when Teale’s character found himself in a scandalous threesome with colleagues nurse Avery (played by Soo) and Doctor Max (played by Jackson), resulting in Avery’s unexpected pregnancy – and the twist? She’s clueless about who the father is.

The drama’s forthcoming ninth episode promises to dive into the unfolding pregnancy quandary. But who is the man behind Tristan Silva?

As fans eagerly await the return of the series, many are curious about Teale’s life beyond the small screen. Born in June 1992, the London native boasts an exotic mix of Venezuelan and Spanish roots, reports the Mirror US.

His family relocated to London following the tumultuous 1989 Caracazo riots in Caracas. Within a couple of years, Teale was born in the bustling metropolis, setting the stage for his future success in acting.

Despite his cultural blend often catching people off guard, Teale has spoken candidly about his diverse heritage. Chatting with Remezcla, the ABC star shed light on his eclectic background, noting: “Both my parents are part Venezuelan. My mother has Spanish blood as well. My father has Welsh blood.

“My mother’s whole family is still in Puerto la Cruz and Valencia and Caracas and Margarita [Island]. When I open my mouth and speak, no one believes that I am anything but British. So, when I speak Spanish, they are very surprised,” he added.

Teale starred as the Spanish-speaking superhero Marcos Diaz (also known as Eclipse) in Fox’s TV series The Gifted, set in Marvel Comics’ X-Men universe.

The show scored a 79 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and aired in 2017, almost ten years after Teale’s standout role. Back in 2010, he landed a part in the fifth season of E4’s hit British teen drama Skins, famed for producing powerhouses such as Daniel Kaluuya, Dev Patel, and Nicholas Hoult.

He stepped into the shoes of former rugby player Nick Levan.

Reflecting on capturing the iconic part, the eager actor told the BBC: “I’m from London. I got the part the day before my birthday so it was the best birthday present I could have ever hoped for! It’s really strange to think I’m part of this new series.

“It hasn’t really sunk in that I’m in the cast yet. So far I’ve had the best time filming and I’m having fun and I’m so lucky to be part of this incredible legacy!” His career includes works like Mother of the Bride, Incorporated, Reign, and The Gold.

On the personal side, Teale isn’t hitched, but rumour has it he’s been linked with actress Phoebe Dynevor.

Back in 2017, the Doctor Odyssey actor was rumoured to be dating the Bridgerton star after they posted an Instagram photo looking rather cosy. However, they never officially confirmed their relationship.

Rewind three years earlier, and Teale was romantically involved with his co-star Adelaide Kane. The pair met on the set of Reign in 2014 and were together for two years before parting ways in 2016.

Doctor Odyssey returns in the USA on March 6. The series’ release date for UK viewers is yet to be announced.
