Former Little Mix star Jesy Nelson was upset as she offered fans an update on her pregnancy as she revealed the complications she faces with her unborn twins

An emotional Jesy Nelson has revealed she is having complications in her pregnancy.
The former Little Mix star took to Instagram with her partner Zion Foster to share an update with her fans. She revealed she is at risk of losing one or both of her unborn twins due to a rare condition and said she hopes to raise awareness of her condition.
In her teary video, Jesy said: “So we just wanted to come on here and do a little video. As some of you may know, we are having twins, which is so exciting for us, and we just wanted to let you in on a bit of our journey of what we’ve been going through. So we are having identical twins, which is so exciting, we’re just like, we actually can’t believe it. But unfortunately, there are complications that come with having identical having identical twins.”
She went on: “The type of twins we are having are called Mono/Di twins, and with that, so normally, most twins will have two placentas that they feed off of. But when you have Mono/Di twins, that means your twins live off one placenta, which can lead to lots of complications. One of them being one baby might take all the nutrients, the other might, which is really awful to say, but could lead to both babies dying and at the moment, I am currently pre stage TTTS, which is twin to twin transfusion, and I’m being monitored very closely.”
The NHS says Mono/Di is short for Monochorionic Diamniotic (MCDA). This means the babies share a placenta but they are each in their own sacs.
Jesy revealed she is currently being scanned twice a week. She admitted the current situation is that every time she has gone so far it’s “got a little bit worse”. However, she revealed she is hoping and praying for the best.
The singer went on: “We feel so like best that we’ve really blessed that we’ve been given twins, but it’s just really sad that, unfortunately, it does come with its complications, which we had no idea about. We honestly had no clue that this kind of thing happens when you have twins.”
Sitting alongside partner Zion Foster, the former X Factor star said they wanted to raise awareness of the condition as it’s one many people that don’t know. She added: “We feel it’s really important for us to share our journey with you guys and let you what’s happening. But yeah, like I said, we are just hoping for the best, and we’re really fortunate that I am lucky enough to be scanned twice a week, and we get to check on the babies.”
She ended by saying: “Every time we go for a scan, we’ve just got to pray that everything is going to be good.”
Jesy, who announced her pregnancy in January, made her romance with Zion Instagram official back in January 2023, following whispers in 2022 about their budding closeness. They had previously dated for a year and a half before calling it quits in August 2023, with Jesy pointing to the age difference and different life paths as the reasons for their split.
Yet, after another separation five months prior, the couple sparked reconciliation rumours with a snug photo that also served as their pregnancy announcement. Jesy has previously discussed the challenging symptoms she’s been facing during her pregnancy. She recently revealed to a follower that she’s been grappling with “constant vomiting.”
When quizzed about her pregnancy journey by a fan on social media, the singer shared: “I’ve been very sick where I’m having twins so constant vomiting 24/7. But other than that feeling very blessed.”
Excited to be growing her family with Zion, Jesy also confessed she was taken aback to discover she was carrying twins. During an Instagram Stories Q&A, she candidly discussed her pregnancy experience with fans. One follower inquired, “OMG! How are you? How did you find out you were having twins? Were you surprised?” to which Jesy responded: “Very, very shocked… it wasn’t planned but I instantly felt happy as soon as I saw that I was.”
