Savvy shoppers can currently save a whopping £65 on a covetable Lenovo laptop as it’s price plummets in a flash sale – but you’ll have to hurry, this deal won’t hang around forever

If you’re on the hunt for a new laptop but are overwhelmed by the sheer number of options, don’t worry, we’ve done the legwork for you. If you’re not sure about the difference between memory and storage, fear not.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 is a great all-rounder that can handle most tasks, barring high-end gaming and video rendering. It’s currently priced at £534.98, down from £599.99, and comes with a respectable Intel i5 processor and 16GB of RAM.

You can upgrade to the more powerful Intel i7 with 8GB of RAM for £635, reduced from £699.99 (all prices correct at time of writing). There’s also an Intel i3 option available for £199.9, although we recommend the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 with an i5 processor or higher for longevity.

This laptop has all the specs needed for everyday computing. It has enough processing power and RAM to multitask with ease, load up quickly, and generally be a reliable system. It has 512GB of built-in storage, which should suffice for the average user.

All Windows systems come with OneDrive, a cloud-based service where you can back up your files for added peace of mind. The laptop features a webcam on its 14-inch, full HD screen, and Dolby Audio powers the speakers, reports the Express.

It also comes with built-in Windows Defender antivirus, so your security needs are covered as long as you keep your laptop updated.

This reliable Lenovo laptop has earned a stellar reputation on Amazon, boasting an average rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars from 145 reviews. One satisfied customer who gave it five stars said, “This is a great laptop, and I’m very pleased with it,” adding that it was easy to set up, a great size, and performed very well. They concluded: “It was easy to set up, a great size and performs very well. I’d certainly recommend it.”

Another happy user described it as a “very responsive laptop, lightweight, the battery charges quickly and if you’re upgrading from a previous laptop or PC then the Lenovo migration software makes this a simple process.”

A third reviewer praised the laptop as being “The laptop is ideal – light, clean, and simple. I like it very much, however, it would have been nice if McAfee antivirus was included in the first year of purchase for free.” but expressed a wish for McAfee antivirus to be included free for the first year.

However, as we’ve already mentioned, there’s no need for additional antivirus software as Windows includes its own, Windows Defender, which is more than capable of keeping your computer safe without slowing your system down.

There have been a few grumbles about the sound quality from the built-in speakers though, with one customer noting: “The laptop itself is amazing, speed pretty fast but the sound is very poor, I turned it all the way up to 100 and still could barely hear anything.” While not ideal, at this price point, underpowered speakers are a common feature of laptops.

Some users have reported issues with the screen quality. “Decent CPU, plenty of memory, an SSD that is spacious enough for most users. However, the screen is absolutely terrible. Contrast is poor, brightness is poor and colour accuracy and white balance are non-existent. There isn’t a good viewing angle at all. I tried using the Windows screen calibration but no settings made it better.”

A worthy alternative could be this HP 14″ Laptop with an Intel i5 processor for £349. If you’re willing to spend a bit more, we’d suggest the Apple MacBook Air 2022 13.6in M2 8GB, which is available for £829 from Argos.

For £534.98, the Lenovo IdeaPad is nevertheless a fantastic choice for any home office, student, or general computer user looking for a speedy machine that will handle most things thrown at it.
