If you’re looking to go down the decluttering route to achieve a more spacious, tidier and fresher home, then it is easily within your powers – and the first steps are very simple

Dreaming of a more spacious, tidier and fresher home?

According to decluttering expert and TikTok sensation @chuoruli, achieving this is well within your grasp. The mum and self-proclaimed guru of minimalism advocates for a “simple life is a beautiful life” and demonstrates how to kickstart the decluttering process with some straightforward steps in her latest video.

Many of us have clutter accumulating in different corners of our homes, whether it’s paperwork that’s been lingering on a table for months or piles of boxes, clothes, and bedding that seem to multiply, encroaching on our living space. However, @chuoruli assures that tackling this issue can be effortless.

In her video, she asserts: “There are three things, if you remove from your house immediately, I promise you you will free up so much space. I removed those three things from my house, and my house instantly looks bigger, looks a lot tidier and looks so much fresher.”

She points out what many overlook by advising to immediately get rid of all boxes, glass or plastic containers, and plastic carrier bags. We’re all likely guilty of hoarding these three items, shoving them into corners and drawers, convinced they’ll be useful one day. But by ditching or recycling them, you can free up space, making your home look brighter and fresher.

Chuoru’s decluttering video has hit the jackpot, racking up 2.9 million views and over 84,000 likes. Her mantra encourages viewers to chuck out three common household items.

The comments were a mix of converts to her method and those who were already on board. One person commented: “So true. We cleaned up Saturday morning and house seems wider.” Another shared: “I just did a deep clean of my room, and getting rid of the boxes and plastic bags made it feel so much better.”

Some boasted about their neat habits: “We reuse the plastic bags but I fold them nicely and I have a roll I sewed to put them in. Boxes always are recycled. Plastic containers are Tupperware that I use for my kids for leftovers, but they are stacked and put away in a container.” And one commenter confirmed that a clutter-free home is a happier one: “Definitely I have no clutter and I’m so happy.”
