Just like most other things, the price of bread has soared amid the ongoing cost of living crisis. While there’s still a chance to find cheaper loaves in shops, it can be just as cheap and easy to bake your own bread at home – especially if they only require two ingredients.

If you’re wanting to eat as ‘clean’ as possible and steer clear of preservatives or chemicals that can often be found in groceries, making your bread yourself might be the best approach. This was what one woman named Jessy wanted to do, after creating her own recipe for two ingredient bread rolls.

Taking to Instagram, Jessy, who is better known as ‘jessyinthegym’ to her 30,300 followers, went on to share how you too can bake your own delicious bread rolls using ingredients you might already have at home.

“Homemade rolls because why is there 101 ingredients in bread,” she wrote at the start of the video, where she was seen turning her oven dish upside down in order to release the freshly baked bread rolls onto a chopping board.

Jessy then continued to flip the bread rolls back around, careful not to burn her hands, as she went on to reveal the rolls in question only contained two ingredients.

You might wonder what sort of magic has been involved in the recipe, as most bread famously needs at least three ingredients – flour, yeast, and water. But Jessy has cleverly managed to cut down the bread recipe ingredients even further, as she went on to share the simple recipe.

To create these mouth-watering bread rolls, Jessy revealed the initial step involves combining plain Greek yoghurt with self-raising flour until a dough forms.

While she didn’t provide precise measurements, one follower commented they successfully replicated the recipe using 2.5 cups of Greek yoghurt and 2.5 cups of self-raising flour to create the dough.

Once the dough was prepared, Jessy proceeded to shape it into ‘handful’ sized balls before arranging the dough balls in a baking tray.

For those wanting flavoured bread, she included an additional optional stage, explaining: “Optional: brush with melted butter, garlic & oregano.”

She then placed the bread rolls in the oven for 20-30 minutes at 120C fan. While followers appeared impressed by the recipe, they swiftly questioned whether this was the correct temperature.

One individual commented they recreated the rolls but adjusted the oven temperature to 175C instead, which many appeared to think was a superior temperature.

Another person added: “Yogurt breads made with self-rising flour typically bake at 375°F (190°C) for 35-45 minutes.”

And if you’re looking to make gluten-free bread, someone else shared: “I made this with a Gluten free self-rising flour and it was so good! Just add 2.5 teaspoons of baking powder and 0.5 teaspoon of salt to your favourite gf flour and then proceed as she did. So good! First gluten free bread I’ve had in awhile that wasn’t dry.”
