Strictly Come Dancing star Dianne Buswell took to social media to share a health update on her dad, Mark, who underwent heart surgery
Strictly Come Dancing’s Dianne Buswell shared an update on her ‘champion’ dad after he underwent heart surgery. The professional dancer revealed the family had a ‘tough 18 months’ as she shared pictures of her posing with her father and mother in the hospital room.
In one selfie, Dianne, 35, smiled for the camera with her parents by her side. Her dad had gauze taped over his neck as he stood with his family. The dancer, who won the last series of Strictly with Chris McCausland, had her arm wrapped around her mum’s shoulder as they stood in the hospital hallway.

Another photo showed her dad sitting up in his hospital bed as Dianne leaned in for the picture. She held up the gifts she got him, including a stuffed animal and a book. Sharing an update with fans, Dianne said: “And he’s up and walking around the ward like a champion after his heart surgery, my poor dad has had a tough 18 months but in true Buswell style has shown strength and resilience.
“And my beautiful mum who has been the saviour in it all she is by his side 24/7 and has been a little trooper you are one of a kind mum. love you both and I feel so lucky I was able to be here with you both @mark.3802 @rinabuswell.”
Dianne’s Strictly co-stars took to the comment section to wish her dad well, with Amy Dowden writing: “Sending love and strength to you all.” Gorka Marquez and Vito Coppola posted white heart emojis and one fan wrote: “Get well soon Mark, we need those vlogs. Sending so much love to all the Buswells, especially our faves Mark and Rina.
“Your positivity is inspiring Dianne. Remember t.o take care of yourself as well, you have just gone through a lot.” One said: “So happy to hear this! You have such a beautiful family.”
Her father, Mark, was taken to the hospital for surgery after regular check-ups flagged concerns with his heart. After undergoing several tests, a blockage in the main artery was discovered. Speaking about the tests, Dianne said in her podcast with Chris, Winning Isn’t Everything, she said: “It’s a blessing in disguise, it’s one of those things that you think, it was completely found as well just through one of his scans when he had his cancer diagnosis.
“He still has to go for all these scans, you know, for his check-ups.” She added: “And it was just through one of those that they said, ‘I think you might want to go check your heart out because there’s something there that we can see.’
“Anyway, next minute, he’s having his appointment, I go with him, then the next minute, they thought they had to fly him to Perth, Chris, in like an air ambulance.”
