Fans of American actress Zendaya have been stunned by a string of accusations unleashed against her by her own half-sister – who has revealed she tried to turn to the star after being diagnosed with cancer
Zendaya’s older sister has sensationally claimed that the Hollywood star brutally blanked her when she turned to her for help after being diagnosed with cancer. Spider-Man actress Zendaya, 28, is the daughter of school teachers Kazembe Ajamu Coleman and Claire Stoermer.
The Challengers star has a number of half-siblings as her father welcomed children with other women before he began his relationship with Claire.
Latonja Coleman is among the other siblings – and is the daughter of Kazembe and his teenage sweetheart Michelle Mackintosh. Now 51, Latonja has been opening up about her family dynamics – and has sensationally claimed she has a cold and distance relationship with her famous half-sister.
Among her claims, Latonja has suggested that Zendaya failed to offer her help or assistance after opening up to her about a health concern. She also claims that other members of their family also failed to grant her any assistance.

She told The Sun: “I tried to get in touch with Zendaya when I was diagnosed with cancer, but family members slammed the door on me. I went through cancer and chemotherapy all by myself with no help, no support. I just want to know why Zendaya wasn’t there for me.”
Elsewhere in her interview, Latonja claimed that she has had limited contact with her Golden Globe-winning sister. She claimed: “I saw Zendaya at my grandmother’s funeral. I hadn’t seen her since Thanksgiving 2018 when we all went to her house.
“When I tried to talk to her, she just gave me a one-arm hug. It felt like I was just a fan. I don’t want her money. I just want to be in her life, to show her that I love her and support her.” The Mirror has contacted a spokesperson of Zendaya for comment.
After the claims about Latonja were revealed, a number of friends have allegedly stepped forward to suggest Zendaya has never told them about her sister. One told the Daily Mail: “Zendaya has never spoken about her half-sister.
“I don’t think many people even knew that she was in the picture. She certainly hasn’t been to the UK. But one thing is for sure, she won’t like this outburst in the slightest – she’s fiercely protective over her private life, especially when it comes to family.”
While Zendaya is having some issues with her sibling relationships, there is another more personal relationship that is reportedly continuing apace. She has been in a romance with Spider-Man co-star Tom Holland since at least November 2021 – with the pair becoming engaged in December last year.
The couple are said to be carefully planning their nuptials and are torn between a destination wedding in Italy or a private estate in Los Angeles. Tom’s dad, Dominic, previously shared details of how his son had proposed to the American star.
He revealed in an online post: “Tom, as you know by now, was very incredibly well prepared. He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter,. Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear. I on the other hand was woefully ill-prepared, almost as though I wasn’t taking it seriously.”
