The supermarket’s recall is especially concerning for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten
Tesco has issued an urgent warning about one of its products amid concerns it may pose a ‘possible health risk’ to certain groups of people. Affected customers should avoid eating the affected batches and return them to stores for a full refund.
The supermarket’s product recall specifically targets its own-brand ‘Free From Breadcrumbs’ because they contain wheat (gluten), which is not disclosed on the label. This is especially concerning for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or people with coeliac disease.
Tesco shared a customer notice regarding the recall earlier this week, it reads: “We are recalling all date and batch codes of Tesco Free From Breadcrumbs 170g, due [to] the presence of undeclared wheat (gluten) in the product. This means there is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy/intolerance to wheat (gluten).”
As the notice highlights, this recall concerns all batches of 170g packs of Free From Breadcrumbs. According to the Government’s Food Standards Agency (FSA), it also encompasses all date codes ‘up to and including Best Before End January 2027’.
If you think you’ve bought an affected product, you can return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is necessary to do this.
A notice from the FSA reads: “If you have bought the above product and have an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or coeliac disease do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Tesco store for a full refund. No receipt is required. For more information contact Tesco Customer Services at tesco.com/help/contact.”

Meanwhile, Tesco similarly adds: “No other Tesco products are affected by this recall. We’re sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
In related news, M&S is recalling a specific batch of ‘Milk Chocolate Honeycomb’ due to concerns it might contain peanuts, which are not listed on the label. Packs weighing 120g with the lot number ‘5242’ and best-before date of May 12, 2026, are affected by this.
A notice from M&S reads: “Customer safety is of paramount importance to Marks & Spencer and we take all issues regarding the production of our foods extremely seriously.
“In the abundance of caution Marks & Spencer is recalling Milk Chocolate Honeycomb due to the possible presence of undeclared peanuts in a small number of packs.”
Anyone allergic or intolerant to peanuts should avoid consuming these items. Customers can return them to any M&S store for a full refund.
A notice from the FSA adds: “Marks & Spencer is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations, which will tell their members about the recall.
“The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. These notices explain to customers why the product is being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.”
