Fitness coach Hawys D, known as @coaching_in_hd on Instagram, says she buys her lunch from Tesco regularly and has still managed to lose a total of 16lbs in 15 weeks

Many struggle to whip up healthy lunches while at work or on the go, often resorting to a simple sandwich which can be surprisingly calorific, particularly those from supermarkets.

Yet, one Tesco customer has shared her secret to shedding 16lbs in just 15 weeks, despite regularly purchasing her midday meal from the retail giant.

Fitness coach Hawys D, who goes by @coaching_in_hd on Instagram, boasts 42,000 followers who she frequently offers her fat loss tips to. In a recent Instagram reel, she divulged her typical Tesco buys that help stave off hunger without piling on the pounds.

The video kicks off with Hawys poised outside a Tesco Express, shopping bag in hand, ready to embark on her health-conscious lunch haul. The overlay text reads: “What I buy for lunch Little Tesco Edition. 16lbs down in 15 weeks.”

She’s then spotted perusing the sandwich section, where she reveals: “This might surprise you, but I’m not gonna go for a meal deal.”

Her rationale is clear as she points out: “These salads and sandwiches are packing nearly 500 calories, and even the healthy high protein options could still set you back nearly 1,000 calories.”

Hawys warns: “Whilst you shouldn’t be scared of calories, if you need 1,500 calories to lose weight, then you’re having nearly two thirds of your allowance in one meal.”

Opting for an alternative, she says: “So instead, I’m moseying to the refrigerated section and buying some pre-cooked chicken. I prefer the seasoned one, but you can get plain.”

The fitness coach outlined how a half pack of chicken boasts “around 30 grams of protein”, and how she complements it with a microwaveable portion of Ben’s Original Favourite Chicken Flavour Rice, stating: “Half a pack is around 170 calories.” She says it’s better than sandwiches as it’s “more filling with fewer calories than a sandwich.”

To increase her meal’s volume and fibre, ensuring she stays satiated, the prominent social media influencer opted for a fresh packet of sweet and crisp side salad. She suggested those wanting to add a touch of luxury to their meal could alternatively go for a packet of veggies that just need a zap in the microwave.

She further declared: “Finally, I’m gonna grab a massive bottle of water to keep me hydrated.”

Hawys revealed her grocery picks were slightly pricier than a typical meal deal, presenting a total bill of £5.80. Despite this, she emphasised: “Realistically, I’m only going to be eating half the rice and half the chicken, meaning per portion, it has actually worked out cheaper and a lot more filling than a regular meal deal actually helping me stick to my calories.”

In her post caption, Hawys shared: “Fat loss lunch hacks. I have a BIG appetite, so a 800kcal meal deal just isn’t going to keep me full…”

Her advice clearly resonated with many, as evidenced by the thousands of likes it amassed. Comments flooded in with praise, one fan effused: “This is quite literally the content I need,” while another commended the tips were “really helpful”.

Another follower concurred enthusiastically, saying: “This is really helpful! I find myself on these situations, so thank you.”
