Supermarkets across the country have been affected by the issue
Tesco shoppers across the UK have spotted a surprising lack of bananas, with many speculating that shipping delays caused by poor weather are to blame. Patrons from various locations, including Maidstone, London, Bournemouth, and the Isle of Sheppey, have noted scarce supplies on social media: in Osterley, West London, they were even met with an apologetic in-store notice.
The announcement read: “We are sorry that bananas are out of stock due to bad weather conditions. We are working hard with our suppliers to refill our shelves.”
Tesco has not responding to numerous requests for a statement. Bananas are constantly flying off the shelves at Tesco, typically imported from nations such as Costa Rica, Ecuador, and Colombia—a fact the company proudly states on its own website.
Over in Bournemouth, Dorset, baffled customers are taking to the internet to express their shock—photos of barren shelves circulating online, captioned with post like: “What, no bananas!” Georgina questioned the situation with her post: “Can someone please explain to me why Tesco have no bananas in stock what is this sorcery?”
Meanwhile, a wry comment came from another disappointed shopper on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, quipping: “Yes, we have no bananas! Empty shelves at Tesco on the Isle of Sheppey today following the non arrival of the banana boat”.
Nikki didn’t hold back her thoughts either, stating: “The great Tesco Banana shortage is getting out of hand.”
Meanwhile, on social media, one baffled shopper asked: “Can someone please explain to me why Tesco have no bananas in stock what is this sorcery?”. Another banana enthusiast fumed: “No bananas in Tesco has angered me a lot more than it should. “A third customer expressed exasperation, saying: “Sorry is there a banana famine that I am not aware of? How can my local Tesco (the big one) and Aldi be out of bananas for the past 3 days? !”, underscoring the widespread issue.
