Anthropologie is best known for its high quality clothing and stylish homeware, but the high street store’s beauty advent calendar is worth a look too, says beauty editor Laura Mulley

I’ve been testing out beauty advent calendars for the past couple of months and plenty have impressed me, including ones from Charlotte Tilbury, LookFantastic and L’Occitane, but one has surprised me more than any other: the 2024 Anthropologie Beauty Advent Calendar.

I love Anthropologie for its lust-worthy fashion, furniture and homeware, but I admit that I hadn’t really thought about its beauty offering much before – that is until I saw the brand’s beauty advent calendar for this year. At £88 but with contents worth over £300, it’s one of the few that costs under £100, and it was really impressed with what was inside; it included lots of products that I don’t think you’ll see anywhere else. Here’s my full review…

Pros

  • Under £100
  • Beautifully illustrated design
  • Contains products you’re unlikely to find in other calendars
  • A good mix of skincare, make-up, body care, etc

Cons

  • No full size products
  • Inner boxes are tricky to put back in place if you’re hoping to reuse it
  • Not loads of high-end brands inside

The packaging

Anthropologie’s 2024 beauty advent calendar is a fairly standard design, with the front opening up like a book to reveal 24 neatly stacked numbered boxes inside, but it’s really beautifully decorated, with a drawing of a colourful storefront on the front, and quirky doodles on the boxes inside. This calendar could probably be refilled and reused if you were careful with opening it, although it is a little tricky to slot the boxes back into their Tetris-like formation, especially if you’ve got it standing upright.

The contents

Where I think this one really stands apart is the brands and products inside; most of them I hadn’t seen inside any other calendar, so it’s great if you like discovering lesser-known brands, or you want to try something that you haven’t already got in your bathroom cabinet.

You can view the full list of contents here, but my personal highlights include Oskia Super R & Super C Duo (great for travelling), Lanolips Lip Scrub Coconutter (smells divine) and Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Clear Brow Gel (a tiny tube, but a brilliant product). Of course, not everyone will fall in love with every single product inside, but it’s a great mix.

The value

Priced at £88 but with contents worth over £300, the value-to-cost ratio is similar to other beauty advent calendars around this price (such as the Boots Limited Edition 24 Days of Beauty Christmas Advent Calendar). I also think it’s quite reasonably priced for Anthropologie, whose products can sometimes be a little pricey.

Overall, I think if you love Anthropologie’s cool, quirky style of clothing and homeware, you’ll love this advent calendar.
