Tom Brady made an appearance on FOX NFL Sunday in hologram form – and his presence led to bewilderment in the studio from those including Terry Bradshaw

Terry Bradshaw, co-host of Fox NFL Sunday, was visibly baffled as Tom Brady made a futuristic entrance on the show in holographic form, leaving viewers and fellow presenters alike scratching their heads.

The ex-New England Patriots ace, who has recently taken up a lucrative $375 million (£289m) gig as the network’s lead NFL analyst, usually graces the booth but opted for a high-tech cameo before Week 7’s games. Introduced by Curt Menefee, Brady’s hologram flickered into view, causing quite the stir among the studio team.

With the virtual version of Brady flanked by Jimmy Johnson and Michael Strahan, it was Bradshaw who appeared particularly flummoxed during the five-minute segment. Fans at home were quick to pick up on the studio’s confusion, with comments flooding in about the bizarre scene.

One viewer tweeted: “Jimmy Johnson and Terry Bradshaw seem very confused by hologram Tom Brady,” while another posted: “Jimmy Johnson has no idea what to do with this Tom Brady virtual appearance.”

Another fan pointed out: “Terry Bradshaw looks totally confused at virtual Tom Brady,” and yet another questioned the necessity of the tech spectacle: “Some people will look at this Tom Brady hologram technology and think pretty cool I look at it and say why are we doing this? How does this serve the audience? Everyone wants to embrace technology… but if there is no value add then why? Because tech folks with money say so?”

New York Giants legend Strahan couldn’t resist a cheeky comment on the technology showcased during an unexpected part of the show. He quipped: “The technology is very good except for the fact Tom Brady is not bigger than me, I’ll tell you that now.”

In Week 7, Brady shared his thoughts on Kansas City Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes ahead of their face-off with the San Francisco 49ers. He observed: “Mahomes knows he has a great defence.”

“He’s going to take what the defence gives him and he’s going to try and make all the right plays early in the game. Then when he needs it, he’ll make the plays,” the seven-time Super Bowl champion said. “But he’s doing such a good job managing the game and that’s his evolution.”

“He was putting up monster touchdown numbers but the team has changed and lost some of it’s weapons. Because of that, he’s turned into a guy that is there to perform when it matters the most. To him it doesn’t matter if he gets four touchdowns – he ultimately wants to get the win.”

Mahomes responded: “That’s how I evolved as a player. It became less about being in the MVP race and a Pro Bowler to ‘Am I good enough for my team to win today? ‘ That’s rarefied air because it gives you a chance to improve every single week and game.”
