Tom Holland and Zendaya visited the St Austell area to celebrate the Spider-Man actor’s parents’ 30th wedding anniversary last year and dined in a local restaurant

Tom Holland has put a Westcountry town in the spotlight after enjoying a getaway with fiancée Zendaya.

The A-list duo were seen in St Austell celebrating Tom’s parents’ 30th wedding anniversary, Tom shared on On the Dish podcast ,with personalities Nick Grimshaw and Angela Hartnett. Holland revealed that they stayed at Porthpean House, the stunning coastal location featured in “About Time” with Rachel McAdams. Marking his parents’ anniversary on September 10, 2024, he opened up about his upbringing, career, and juggling life between the UK and US — Zendaya’s home.

The Porthpean House website paints a dreamy picture of seaside escapism. “Sleep with the soothing sound of waves lapping on the shore and potter barefoot through the garden to the beach. With uninterrupted views over the sheltered south coast of Cornwall,” it tempts.

“In the Petherick family for five generations, Porthpean House has a relaxed old-fashioned charm, acres of tranquil gardens just above the beach. The location for the Richard Curtis Film ‘About Time’. Sleeps up to 21 people in glorious bedrooms, many overlooking the sea; blissful for relaxed holidays, formal occasions, romantic weddings and family anniversaries.”

During their September getaway, the couple were spotted at a Polkerris restaurant and even took time to pose for photos with fans outside a charming café in Par. The café’s owner, Helen Woodward, was blissfully unaware of their star status, reports Devon Live. She confessed: “I didn’t have a clue who they were.”

The pair popped in for breakfast, with Zendaya choosing American pancakes topped with maple syrup and a side of hash brown, while Tom Holland opted for the hearty ‘Zeppelin’ fry-up. Describing them as “absolutely lovely”, Woodward noted that their visit was brief, lasting around 20 minutes.

“They were just like a regular couple and apparently went to Asda after,” she added.

Regarding their seating choice, she explained: “They came in and I was serving a couple of other customers so I told them to take a seat and they went to sit down. I’ve only got a small café and I’ve got one big table that I can get about five people at and they went and sat there so I asked if they minded moving to a smaller table, in case I got a group come in.

“Then this other couple said to me ‘they are famous you know’ and I asked who they were and they told me he was Spider-Man. They were absolutely lovely. They were just a really nice couple. It was just them two.”

Grinning ear to ear and holding a takeaway box outside Sam’s On The Beach in Polkerris, famed Euphoria actress Zendaya was seen mingling with her admirers as she posed for photos at the beloved beachside eatery renowned for its seafood and pizza. In a gushing post on Facebook, the restaurant shared: “The sun has come back to beautiful Polkerris and with it some superheroes. These lovely superstars booked to dine with us last week.”

The post continued to praise the celebrity group: “It was such a pleasure to host family and friends of Tom Holland and Zendaya. A relaxed chilled family and friends day with us at the Beach. They were kind enough to have their photos taken with some of their biggest fans.”
