Taylor Swift has been dating NFL superstar Travis Kelce since October 2022 and his ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole, has issued advice to anyone who finds themselves in a similar position

Kayla Nicole, the former flame of NFL star Travis Kelce, has shared some sage advice for those dating sports superstars, urging them to “always have your own”. The Kansas City Chiefs icon was in an on-off relationship with the influencer for five years before they decided to part ways in 2022.

Since then, the three-time Super Bowl champ has been swept up in a high-profile romance with pop sensation Taylor Swift, their love story unfolding under the relentless media spotlight. Already a household name thanks to his football prowess, Kelce’s fame has skyrocketed over the past year due to the fascination with his personal life.

Now, ex-girlfriend Nicole has taken a moment to reflect on her own time with the 35 year old gridiron star. Speaking candidly about her experience dating one of the NFL’s most recognisable faces, she offered some pearls of wisdom for anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation in the future.

She declared on Angel Reese’s Podcast: “My biggest advice in dating an athlete is to always have your own. It is really easy to get caught up in their dream, their vision for their life. Something that I had to learn early on was that the relationship could be over tomorrow and what do you have? At the time it was a long-distance relationship, I was going back-and-forth.”, reports the Mirror US.

The social media influencer opened up about her turbulent relationship, saying: “I was in-between apartments and thought ‘it’s cool, we’re going to get married and I’m going to move into the house, I don’t really need an apartment’,” as she detailed the ups and downs with her partner. “We broke up, my lease was up, my lease on my car was up all at the same time.

“Thankfully we ended up getting back together but from that point moving forward I was like I don’t care who I date, I’m going to always have my own place, my own car. Support their career but prioritize my own goals.”

Nicole also spoke candidly about the strains of dating a celebrity, noting the intense scrutiny it brings: “I think the combination of everything is the perfect storm to make you want to disappear from the world entirely.”

She discussed the personal toll of a public breakup, stating: “Behind closed doors, the hardest part is losing a partner, a best friend, speaking every day to cutting ties. Then you throw in social media. I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos didn’t impact me, even to this day.”

She continued, highlighting the cruelty of internet trolls: “You could go to my most recent posts and people would be debating why I am worthless. It is nothing to do with me. I think there is something about that level of fame that attracts crazy people, which is unfortunate because I don’t think I have done anything to warrant that kind of backlash.”
