Apple has just confirmed the release of its Hearing Aid feature in the Uk.

UK owners of Apple’s premium AirPods Pro 2 earbuds are getting a very useful free health upgrade from today. The US technology giant has now confirmed that British users will finally have full access to the clever Hearing Aid function.

This smart update, which has been available in the US for some time, turns those iconic white buds into a clinical-grade hearing device.

The idea behind the boost is to assist those with mild to moderate hearing loss and pick up more of the sounds around them. Apple says it has created the function to help users better engage in conversation along with keeping them connected to the people in the room and local environment.

It’s even possible to fine-tune the settings with the unique profile created and then automatically applied to music, movies, games, and phone calls across devices.

This is an important update, as mild to moderate hearing loss affects millions of people in the UK. Some research has also shown that untreated hearing loss can affect a person’s overall health and wellbeing.

“At Apple, we believe that technology can help people live healthier lives, and we’re delighted to bring the Hearing Aid feature to the UK, offering our users an end-to-end hearing health experience with AirPods Pro 2,” said Sumbul Desai, M.D., Apple’s vice president of Health.

This update now joins the Hearing Test feature which also recently launched on AirPods Pro 2 in the UK. This means you can take a quick five minute test using an iPhone with the results then instantly shown on the screen.

If an issue is spotted, the Hearing Aid upgrade can then be used to boost things.

Apple has confirmed that both the Hearing Test and Hearing Aid features are grounded in science and were validated through rigorous scientific studies.

If you own AirPods Pro 2 and think your hearing isn’t up to scratch you’ll find the Hearing Test function in the settings.
