The UK has been hammered by miserable weather in recent days that sparked floods, travel chaos and even school closures but, unfortunately, Brits will need to prepare for more miserable weather

Brits are braced for another major rain storm with a blast of hail set to follow, blighting many with horrendous conditions this week.

The Met Office issued yellow rain warnings for Thursday and Friday, with a belt of rain set to hammer homes across much of England and Southern Scotland. Maps show the South West, South East, London, East Anglia, Yorkshire, the North East as well as southern and Central Wales fall under the weather warning on Thursday.

Many of the areas also fall under a rain warning for Friday with the exception of the North East and Yorkshire. The rain could spark travel disruptions as well as possibly triggering floods, which will be little comfort to the communities that saw water levels rise rapidly just a few days ago.

“Showers will be with us first thing across the south coast, south Wales as well (on Thursday),” said Met Office Meteorologist Aidan McGivern. “Some brighter interludes in between the showers, but across this central swathe of the UK with this heavy and persistent rain that will accumulate particularly though the morning and particularly for parts of the North East.”

A precipitation map shows scattered instances of hail in parts of the South West, Wales and North West on Thursday with similar instances being due on Friday. On Sunday, a huge band of rain is set to hit the British Isles with the entire island of Ireland and the West coast of England, Wales and Scotland bearing the brunt of the rainfall.

Hail is predicted to blight the Highlands of Scotland early on Monday morning as the band of miserable weather continues to hammer the country. Many parts of northern and southwestern England, Northern Ireland and Wales will also see their fair share of heavy showers.

“A showery, blustery and chilly northerly airstream for all on Friday,” the Met Office said in its outlook for Friday to Sunday. “A ridge of high pressure building in from the west into the weekend. Feeling colder than recent days.”

The Met Office added heavy rain and strong winds were expected to arrive into the far west on Monday before spreading to other parts of the UK during the week. Moving into next month, unsettled conditions appear most likely with some spells of rain and strong winds expected across all regions.
