Eliza and Henrietta Huszti disappeared in Aberdeen after they were last seen walking along a river in the early hours of the morning on Tuesday as Police Scotland issue an urgent plea

Police are searching for two twin sisters in Scotland after they vanished while out on a nighttime stroll.

Eliza and Henrietta Huszti, 32, were seen walking along the river in the early hours of the morning after leaving their home in Aberdeen city centre on Tuesday, January 7. The sisters were captured on CCTV walking along Market Street in the city centre, before crossing Victoria Bridge and heading towards a path beside the River Dee.

Both were seen heading in the direction of Aberdeen Boat Club. Detectives issued an urgent plea for the sisters, describing both as being white, of slim build and with long, brown hair.

Police Scotland said officers were carrying out extensive searches for the sisters, with concerns over freezing cold weather currently being experienced in Scotland. Temperatures have consistently dropped below freezing this week, with the Met Office issuing snow and ice warnings for Aberdeenshire.

Search teams have also been using sniffer dogs and marine units, as well as specialist advisors, to help locate Eliza and Henrietta. ‘Commercial and industrial units’ near to where the sisters were last seen are of interest to the force, with pleas to local businesses to check CCTV and any buildings.

Chief Inspector Darren Bruce, of Police Scotland, said: “Extensive inquiries are ongoing to trace Eliza and Henrietta and searches are being carried out in and around the area where they were last seen. Searches are ongoing here and we would urge businesses in and around the South Esplanade and Menzies Road area to please review their CCTV footage for early morning on January 7 and contact us if it holds anything that may be relevant to our investigation.

“We also ask anyone with dashcam footage from that time to contact us.” Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 0735 of Tuesday 7 January 2025.
