The retailer opened its flagship UK store in London, Regent Street in 2009 – and has now revealed plans to expand its high street presence
US fashion brand Anthropologie has announced plans to open three new stores in the UK.
The retailer opened its flagship UK store in London, Regent Street in 2009 – and has now revealed plans to expand its high street presence. There will be new stores opening in Liverpool on November 5, Glasgow on November 12 and Manchester on November 26.
The Liverpool store will be located in the Liverpool One shopping centre and will span 7,000 sq ft across one floor. It will open from 10am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 10am to 7pm on Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sunday.
The Glasgow site will soon open in the Princes Square by M shopping centre, with a total area of 4,300 sq ft. This store will open from 10am to 6pm Monday to Saturday (and until 7pm on Thursdays), and 11am to 6pm on Sundays.
Finally, the 5,261 sq ft Manchester store will open in the Royal Exchange Theatre complex. This will welcome shoppers from 10am to 6.30pm Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
Anthropologie confirmed the news in a TikTok video, which features alongside the caption: “Three new stores opening this November.” The new openings mean Anthropologie will soon have 20 UK stores.
Matt Hilgeman, managing director, Anthropologie International, said: “We’re delighted to be opening in Manchester, a city that embodies the cultural energy and creativity at the heart of Anthropologie.
“Manchester is an ideal location for our continued UK expansion after Liverpool. This store represents an important milestone for Anthropologie, and we’re looking forward to welcoming the local community into a space that feels both inspiring and unique.”
Rob Deacon, Asset Management Director at Landsec’s Liverpool One, said: “Anthropologie is yet another leading international retailer that aligns perfectly with the calibre of brands at the destination, further cementing Liverpool One as the UK’s hot spot for the best names in retail, and providing more unique reasons to visit.”
It comes after Gap announced its return to the UK high street with three new standalone stores. Gap opened in the UK in 1987 and closed its last UK store in September 2021.
But now, the US clothing brand has confirmed it will open its new flagship store in Covent Garden on November 6, followed by branches in Westfield London on December 4 and Wembley Park London Designer Outlet on December 12.
Gap currently has four shop-in-shop concepts within Next stores, including in Oxford Street, London, Braehead, Glasgow and Trafford and Arndale shopping centres in Manchester.
The fashion brand also has more than 40 concessions in Next stores across England and Ireland.
