Cleaning fans shared their favourite ways to clean an air fryer, with one woman revealing her ‘quick and easy’ method using a household item
A cleaning enthusiast has just dropped a straightforward trick to get your air fryer squeaky clean, and you likely have the magic ingredient right at home. Ever thought of dishwasher tablets as more than dish cleaners?
Well, Danielle, a TikTok user known as @cleaningwithdanielled, swears by these little saviours for tackling stubborn air fryer grime. She spilled her easy-peasy hack revealing that ditching the grease from your air fryer is no sweat at all, reports the Express.
To get started, pop a dishwasher tablet in the air fryer basket, drown it in boiling water and leave it to marinate for 30 minutes. Once time’s up, drain the oily residue and give it a quick rinse.
In her video, Danielle explained: “Here’s how I clean my air fryer with dishwasher tablets. So I pop one dishwasher tablet in each drawer, leave them to soak with boiling water for around half an hour.
“And just simply empty and rinse. It’s as easy as that. The dishwasher tablets will actually break down all the fats and oils, so it can go down your drain, don’t worry about that. This is definitely one of my favourite methods because it’s just so quick and easy to do.”
However, Danielle cautions in her caption: “I know a lot of people on tiktok do this method and also “cook it” please gosh do not do this! ” The response to the video was lively, with viewers sharing their own tips too.
Terri commented: “I put mine in the dishwasher,” while Summer suggested, “I just use the rubber dishes that U can buy then U can just take them out and wash them then put them back in.”
Pete had a nifty suggestion for cleaning the air fryer, writing: “Kitchen paper folded twice straight in after food is out move it round using silicone spatula wipe with dishcloth once cool cheaper and easier.”
Meanwhile, Danielle urged folks to ditch the trend of ‘cooking’ their way to a clean air fryer. Cleaning gurus at Which? previously cautioned against a viral ‘hack’ that involves ‘cooking’ soapy water in the air fryer basket.
In a Which? Instagram video post from 2024, they slammed the ‘air frying’ water hack as the “dumbest” cleaning method for the appliance. The ‘hack’ not only poses a fire risk but also threatens to burn down your house, or at the very least, damage your air fryer.
The expert advised: “Cleaning after every use might seem like a bit of a chore, but actually uses the least effort in the long run.”
