A woman has shared her carpet cleaning hack on TikTok and it’s left people ‘gobsmacked’ as they share their own tips for getting rid of the dirty water after it’s done

Everyone has their own style when it comes to cleaning their homes.

Some prefer tackling one room at a time, while others go all out and clean the entire house in one go. There’s something incredibly therapeutic and satisfying about tidying up, which is probably why there are tons of social media channels and influencers dedicated to cleaning.

TikTok user Georgia, known for her tips, hacks, and inspirational content, recently shared a video on her account about her carpet cleaning adventure. She announced she’d be deep-cleaning a different room each day, starting with the dirtiest yet most rewarding task: scrubbing the stair carpets.

She detailed her prep work, which involved vacuuming to remove surface dirt, using a hand-held scraper to lift embedded fluff, dust, and hair, followed by the main event – using the carpet cleaner. Georgia was delighted with the results, showing off the stark contrast in the carpet’s colour before and after the wet cleaning. She said: “There were so many stains on it I didn’t even know were there.”

Then came the reveal of the grimy water, which she poured away into the bath. Her video quickly sparked a flurry of comments as viewers chimed in with their opinions on her cleaning technique. One comment, racking up over 14,000 likes, says: “Pour it down the toiletttttttt.” Another person chimed in with a handy tip, saying: “Just a tip that I’ve started instead of pouring dirty water like that down the drain pour it down the toilet so it can just flush away.”

A different viewer pointed out: “Hair easily gets stuck in drains like your shower and sink, that’s why you need to unclog those drains more often. your toilet has to flush down more.” Meanwhile, a fourth individual remarked: “you aren’t putting your a** in the toilet water but you are in the tub. even if you bleach it still nasty. Yk? This will clog your drains.”
