Apple released its latest iOS update on Monday (February 10), but it left a sour taste in the mouth for many iPhone users who have been left complaining about a common issue with one app
Apple’s latest iOS update, version 18.3. 1, launched on Monday (February 10), was meant to be a cause for celebration among iPhone users.
However, it has left some users feeling less than thrilled. The release, which the tech giant claims addresses bug fixes and security issues, installed automatically overnight and has since been met with complaints about a particular email issue.
But there’s no need to panic, as TikTok’s Charli has come to the rescue with a handy solution. In her video, she explains the frustration: “If anyone has updated their phones to the new iOS, the emails have all changed around – I didn’t like it at all,” she said. “They’re not just listed, they’re in different categories and I just couldn’t get used to it.”
Charli then reveals an easy fix to revert the email app back to its former layout: “Basically there are three little dots in the right hand corner and if you click on those you will see ‘Categories’ is ticked. But you can change that to ‘List View’ to return it to normal. It’s so much better.”
She expressed relief at her “hack” which solved the confusion over the whereabouts of individual emails. “It was too many boxes and different things going on. Obviously the font will still be a little bit different, but the actual layout of your emails is the same and they come up in the order of when you received them.”
Charli concluded her video with a handy tip: “It’s dead simple, so if you don’t like the new look like me, just do it – it works so much better for me. Hope this helps!” Her advice clearly resonated with her audience, as nearly 300,000 viewers tuned in, and the comments section lit up with over 1,000 responses.
One fan exclaimed: “You legend! That was causing me so much stress. Thank you.” Another expressed gratitude: “Thank you so very much for sharing this information. I didn’t like it myself, it was so irritating. I don’t know why they touch the settings. They should just leave things as they are.”
A third relieved viewer commented: “Oh my goodness, thank goodness I found this page, it’s been driving me nuts! The other thing for me is that it no longer notifies me when I receive an email. I only know if I open the app and see them.”
Meanwhile, a fourth shared their success: “Amazing, now changed back, thanks. I was thinking how this is weird, I was also not getting notifications so when I was clicking on my email I found I’d missed loads.”
Apple has remained tight-lipped about the update, offering only a brief explanation on its support website about the patch designed to block hackers from accessing data on locked devices. “A physical attack may disable USB Restricted Mode on a locked device,” Apple’s statement disclosed.
It continued: “Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been exploited in an extremely sophisticated attack against specific targeted individuals.”
Apple has been contacted for more information.
