Arsenal are stepping up their search for a new striker, with the Gunners now making a fresh pursuit for Dusan Vlahovic, who previously snubbed the Emirates to join Juventus
Arsenal’s title challenge is stuttering, with the January transfer window presenting the ideal opportunity for Mikel Arteta to boost his squad.
Saturday’s bore draw with Everton exposed several problem areas in Arteta’s squad, which need to be addessed if Liverpool are to be chased down. Top of the list would be a striker, giving the Gunners’ struggles to score.
Several years ago, Arsenal were seen as one of the frontrunners for Dusan Vlahovic before he joined Juventus. Now their interest has been resurrected as Arteta searches for a new No.9.
Elsewhere, Raheem Sterling looks set to remain at the Emirates Stadium despite his lack of game-time since his arrival from Chelsea. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Arsenal transfer news.
Sterling set to stay
Raheem Sterling has no plans to cut short his stay at Arsenal in search of more regular football in the January window. The winger has struggled for game-time at the Gunners, making just 10 appearances in all competitions.
He has mainly been forced to play the role of substitute, with his last start coming in October. Despite that though, the Evening Standard reports that he is determined to force his way into the team during the second half of the season.
Sterling is understood to be in ‘constant dialogue’ with Arteta and has struck up a good rapport with his team-mates. There is said to be a feeling that there is still plenty of time for Sterling to make an impact and so he will be staying in January.

Kiwior seeks exit
Jakub Kiwior is searching for an exit from Arsenal having been dropped by Arteta. The Pole had taken Gabriel’s place during his absence due to injury, but the Brazilian’s return to fitness has seen the defender drop back onto the bench.
According to Il Mattino, Kiwior has now directed his agents to find him a new club in January. His situation is being monitored by both Napoli and Juventus, with a return to Italy appearing likely.
His agents are understood to be travelling to Italy for talks with Napoli over a potential move. Napoli boss Antonio Conte has already given his approval for the deal, with Kiwior keen to make the move.
Vlahovic pursuit resurrected
Arsenal have resurrected their interest in Dusan Vlahovic as they search for a new striker. The Gunners pursued the 24-year-old before he joined Juventus, though Spazioj.it report his future in Turin is ‘increasingly at risk’.
Vlahovic clashed with fans after a recent game against Venezia and it appears a contract extension is unlikely. Arsenal are now ‘knocking again’ on Vlahovic’s door and are seen as an ‘aggressive contender’.
It is expected the Gunners will firm up their interest in January, with Arteta said to want an all-round striker who brings a high number of goals. Vlahovic would fit the bill and the Gunners are weighing up the possibility of offering Gabriel Jesus in exchange.
