Arsenal are expected to part ways with payers now the January transfer window is open – and they’re also on the look out for reinforcements as they bid to finally win the league title

The transfer window is done and already Arsenal have completed their first deal of the month.

Young defender Josh Robinson has departed for Wigan already in January and there remains plenty of more time for action to take place. Mikel Arteta is keeping his cards close to his chest however, and suggested the Gunners will look at opportunities that arise in the coming weeks.

“At the moment it is looking after the players and get the best out of them,” he following victory over Brentford. “At the moment our focus is our players. I really like my players and I believe in what we have as there’s a lot of quality and commitment.”

“Let’s see,” he added, “If there’s an opportunity we will look at it”.

Real Madrid receive positive response

William Saliba’s entourage have provided Real Madrid with a positive answer after Los Blancos made an approach.

The La Liga giants have been linked with the 23-year-old defender and have now made him their ‘priority target’. Los Blancos are aware they must break records to secure a deal for the defender, per Sport.

Surprise January move

Arsenal are considering a surprise move for Brighton forward Evan Ferguson this month.

talkSPORT report that Arsenal could start their January business with a move for the 20-year-old, and a prepared to make a move if circumstances allow. They await a decision from the Seagulls over whether they will listen to offers.

The Gunners join Fulham and West Ham in holding an interest in Ferguson. Brighton are said to be inclined to ‘insist on an obligation clause’ if they ultimately decide to allow the striker to depart the Amex.

Currently, the south coast side’s focus is reported to be helping Ferguson get back to his full fitness.

Arsenal ace nears loan

Marquinhos is set to move on loan to Cruzeiro for the rest of the year, per reports in Brazil.

GE Globo report the 21-year-old is set for a second loan in a row in the South American nation. The winger, signed by the Gunners in 2022, spent a year on loan with Fluminense but the did not take the opportunity to make the move permanent after he fell out of favour.

Marquinhos joined the side and was a regular under Fernando Diniz but failed to keep his place when Mano Menezes took the reigns in Rio de Janeiro. A hamstring injury did not help the loanee’s cause.

Diniz is now is in the hotseat at Cruzeiro and set to reunite with Marquinhos..
