The Green Dragon Inn in Hardraw in the heart of the Dales National Park has been around for centuries – and pub lovers still travel there in numbers to take in its atmosphere

Step into a scene right out of a storybook with an historic Yorkshire Dales pub that’s buzzing on social media for its breathtaking countryside views as well as its fine ales and food.

The gem in question, the Green Dragon Inn, nestled in the Hardraw village, was spotlighted by TikTok user The Yorkshireman (@the.yorkshireman) who raved about the it’s distinct charm. Besides serving up top-notch brews and hearty traditional fare, the venue stands out with its very own waterfall.

“It’s long been a Dales favourite,” noted The Yorkshireman. “Dating back to the 13th century, the pub maintains tons of its original features.” His virtual tour of the cosy lounge began by revealing a grand stone fireplace and timeless, quintessentially British decor.

And the surprises kept coming as The Yorkshireman unveiled the overnight accommodation options, boasting modern comforts amidst rustic allure. “One of the best parts – you can actually stay over,” he shared, showing off rooms that marry past elegance with contemporary style.

With idyllic views of undulating fields and local creatures outside the window, The Yorkshireman enthused: “Many rooms have been lovingly refurbished, overlooking the stunning countryside and village of Hardraw. But our favourite part about staying here is soaking up the pub’s atmosphere.”

He added “Stocking local beers aplenty and boasting multiple open fireplaces, the pub is as cosy as can be and is the perfect spot to hide away this autumn.” The Yorkshireman then went on to sample the pub’s menu, showcasing some of the finest “hearty Yorkshire scran” available, including pies, fish and chips, and other pub classics.

He also revealed the site’s pièce de résistance – the stunning waterfall, Hardraw Force, just a short walk behind the pub. “Its the highest single drop waterfall in the country making this an absolute sight to behold,” he gushed.

The Yorkshireman closed his review: “Make sure you check out what bands they have on as well as they have a great new event space in the back! The video quickly garnered attention on TikTok, with users chiming in with their own fond memories.

One user commented: “I visited earlier this year, wonderful place,” whilst another shared: “Went to the waterfall and had some lovely walk’s beautiful place.”

A third reminisced: “Used to camp round the back of there in the 90s used to be a communal fire pit area had some amazing weekends there,” A fourth person recounted their experience: “We walked to this pub from Hawes a few years back!
