Kathryn Crosby, the wife of Bing Crosby has died aged 90 it has been confirmed as tributes poured in the for 7th Voyage of Sinbad actress

Bing Crosby’s wife and Hollywood actress Kathryn Crosby, has died. The actress who also went by the names of Kathryn Grant and Kathryn Grandstaff was often seen on screen alongside her late husband.

The actress who was known for her roles in Anatomy of a Murder and 7th Voyage of Sinbad died of natural causes at her home in Hillsborough, California. Kathryn was surrounded by her loved ones at the time of her death. She was born as Olive Kathryn Grandstaff in West Columbia, Texas on November 25, 1933.

One fan said: “#RIP Kathryn Crosby. She pretty much quit acting after she wed Bing in 1957 when she was 23 and he was 54. He ‘was a pretty cute kid when it came to convincing a girl that what she really wanted was to stay home and to scrub floors,’ she once said.”

The star made her uncredited screen debut in the Kathryn Grayson musical drama So This Is Love in 1953 as a showgirl. She made a few more small appearances in movies such as Rear Window. Kathryn graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1955 from the University of Texas.

During the same year, she got her first credited role in Cell 2455 Death Row. She met Bing after signing a seven-year contract with Paramount Pictures. They met when she was working at temp job in the Paramount wardrobe department while he was wrapping up Little Boy Lost.

They met again a few months later when she was bringing in visitors to the set of Crosby’s White Christmas. She also interviewed him for her Texas Girl column in the newspaper. Talking to PBS in 2014, she reminisced about their meeting and said he called out to her: “Hi Tex, what’s your Hurry?” However, she didn’t know how he knew she came from Texas.

“He just found out, he was a very sneaky man. I think he knew everybody,” she explained at the time. “He invited me for a cup of tea and we had tea and I looked into his big blue eyes and about 15 minutes later, I realized I was in love.” Kathryn and Bing went on to tie the knot in 1957. Kathryn was his second wife.

She starred in many hit movies in the 50s, including Phil Karlon’s hits Tight Spot and The Phenix City Story. She also starred with Tony Curis in Mister Cory. Kathryn is best known for her role as Princess Parisa in Ray Harryhausen’s hit, The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, which was the first of the trio of Sinbad movies.

The actress is survived by her three kids, including Harry Lillis III, Mary Frances and Nathaniel.
