Brits have shared some of the most peculiar ways they cheer themselves up – from browsing estate agent websites to popping bubble wrap and gardening.
A survey of 2,000 adults found that 82% have at least one ‘unusual’ method for boosting their mood. Some of these unconventional techniques include telling ‘dad jokes’, browsing estate agents’ websites, and having a chat with the dog.
The study, commissioned by Kinder Bueno, found that nearly three-quarters (72%) believe the world is a better place when everyone can express a unique side of themselves.
Andrea Longobardi, at Kinder, said: “We’re delighted to see the inventive ways Brits elevate their days and celebrate the unique moments in their lives that help to make their day extra special.”
“Whether it’s singing in the car or dancing around the house, we want to encourage enjoying those elevated moments, turning a basic day into a brighter one.”
According to data from OnePoll.com, four in 10 people need their day brightened when they are lacking sleep, 45% need a pick-me-up when they are feeling run down, and 41% require a lift when the weather is gloomy.
However, 58% of Brits say they need to add more colour to their day than usual at the moment.
After using their unique mood-boosting tactics, 83% claim it makes them feel happier, with 82% admitting it also helps to reduce their stress levels.
Nearly two in five (37%) have added new unusual techniques to their repertoire over the years as it makes 49% feel completely unique.
