Cruise staff have shared their top tips for booking a cabin if you’re prone to sea sickness – and it’s all about the location and how high or low you are on board

If you’re gearing up for a cruise holiday, you’re in for a treat with a relaxing getaway that offers everything you could possibly need.

However, if seasickness is a concern, there’s a simple trick to help reduce the chances of feeling queasy. Cruise Critic suggests that booking a room that’s low and central can minimise the sensation of the ship’s movement.

If you’re keen on having a balcony, don’t worry – just opt for a lower level and stay close to the centre to lessen the impact of the ocean’s motion, The Express reports.

The higher and closer to the front or back of the ship you are, the more you’ll feel the rocking. Looking for an upgrade without the hefty price tag? You might just be in luck.

Seasoned cruiser Gary Bembridge, who runs the YouTube channel Tips for Travellers, has shared advice on how to score a cabin upgrade without breaking the bank.

He said: “This year, I saw cruise lines, especially during key sales periods, offering promotions where I book one grade but get a given grade or two higher. So, I can lock in an upgrade when I book to get more bang for my buck.”
