Janice Combs made a bold entrance at her son Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ sex trafficking trial after publicly defending her son against over 100 sexual misconduct allegations

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ mum Janice Combs made a bold entrance at her son’s trial on Thursday after defending him against over 100 sexual misconduct allegations.

Opting for a tiger-print fur jacket over a white mini dress, the former model and teacher’s assistant, 84, stood out as attended Combs’ sex-trafficking trial. Hiding her face with a pair of large jewelled shades, she ignored the heckles as she made her way to court.

As she entered the court house in lower Manhattan, one person shouted: “Janice, your son is a predator and deserves to be locked up.” Janice, who has publicly defended her son, remained composed and appeared unfazed by the commotion. The rapper’s twin daughters Jessie James and D’Lila Star, 17, arrived shortly before the hearing alongside brothers Quincy, 33, Justin, 30, and Christian, 26.

Combs was arrested on a number of sex trafficking and racketeering offences, September 16. He appeared in court on Thursday, where he was seen wearing his prison jumpsuit for the first time. In courtroom sketches, the rapper wore a muted ill-fitting prison-issued shirt at the pre-trial hearing to decide evidence to be used in the case.

The 54-year-old rapper appeared in court beside his lawyers, facing charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. He smiled briefly at the sight of his mother and some of his children in the public gallery, after 120 women came forward alleging abuse at Diddy’s hands.

Combs has refuted the charges against him and repeatedly pled his innocence. After the hearing was over, Diddy was returned to prison after being twice denied bail on a $50 million bond. His lawyers have now appealed his bail for a third time, and the case is now before the US Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Combs’ legal team has repeatedly argued that their client will not flee the country and is willing to surrender his passport, sell his private jet, and put his $48 million home up as collateral, but judges have denied them each time. He will remain behind bars pending the outcome of his trial – which won’t start until May 2025.

Janice recently issued a statement, where she said “as a mother” she is “saddened” by what her son has been accused of. She said: “I come to you today as a mother that is devastated and profoundly saddened by the allegations made against my son, Sean Combs. It is heartbreaking to see my son judged not for the truth, but for a narrative created out of lies.

“To bear witness to what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words. Like every human being, my son deserves to have this day in court, to finally share his side, and to prove his innocence.”

Janice then mentioned that she realises her son has made mistakes in the past which referenced footage released in 2016 by CNN where he appeared to assault his then-girlfriend Cassie in a Los Angeles hotel. Janice said: “Not being entirely straightforward about one issue does not mean my son is guilty of the repulsive allegations and the grave charges levelled against him.”
