Jessie J, real name Jessica Cornish, lives in Los Angeles with her partner, basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, and their son Sky, who the couple welcomed in May last year

Jessie J’s Los Angeles mansion has been robbed with more than $20,000 (£15,000) worth of jewellery stolen by criminals.

The British singer, real name Jessica Cornish, splits her time between the UK and the US, and has been living in Los Angeles with her longtime partner, basketball player Chanan Safir Colman, and their son Sky, who the couple welcomed in May last year. The Price Tag hitmaker was the latest high-profile name to be targeted by a criminal gang who are focusing on famous people in Southern California, according to TMZ.

The 36-year-old notified police on Thursday as she returned to her Los Angeles mansion and discovered it had been broken into, with more than $20,000 of jewellery stolen by the thieves. The back window of Jessie’s home had been broken to gain access to the property, and police confirmed there have been no arrests in connection with the robbery, but investigations continue.

The singer has been travelling around the world in recent weeks to perform a string of gigs, and was in the UK in August as she performed at Manchester Pride, as well as a gig at Yorkshire Wildlife Park, which she promoted on Instagram. Jessie isn’t the first high-profile name to fall victim to the criminal gang, as Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson’s $26million mansion in the Pacific Palisades was also broken into over the summer.

According to TMZ, the Oscar-winning actor’s cliffside home was robbed while Tom was out of town, and the security alarm was triggered when thieves smashed through the glass window on a guest house located on the property. Other celebs including Modern Family star Sarah Hyland and comedian Marlon Wayans have also been targeted by the gang, who seem to be focusing on A-list celebs in Los Angeles who are out of town.

Sarah, 33, caught sight of the intruders on the security cameras at her home while she was away with husband Wells Adams, and told officers she was alerted to the robbery while miles away from her property. According to TMZ, she told police she was notified of someone smashing the glass on one of her windows in broad daylight, and watched as two masked men exited her home. Investigations are still ongoing, and it wasn’t confirmed if anything had been taken from the star’s property.

Comedian and actor Marlon, best known for his roles in the Scary Movie franchise and White Chicks, issued a warning to thieves after his home was robbed in July. In a video on Instagram, he said he was the worst celebrity to try and rob as he didn’t own many valuable possessions. “I want you to know that they didn’t really get much because I don’t own s**t. The most valuable thing in my house is my house. So, unless you’re gonna put that s**t on a truck and drag it away, then, yeah, man, you did well, but I don’t own s**t. I don’t wear jewellery. This [ring] is fake. … It’s a heart rate monitor. I’m not flashy. No jewellery. No necklaces. I don’t have cash. I use credit cards,” he quipped.
