Wife of health guru spoke of his ‘proudest achievement as ‘Michael Mosley’s Just One Thing due to air on the BBC tonight

Dr Michael Mosley’s final two part series, Just One Thing, is set to air tonight (October 21) with the second episode looking at how one challenge could benefit your brain. The late much-loved presenter and writer died on June 5, and now his wife, Dr Claire Bailey, has revealed one of his proudest achievements.

The author of the successful Fast 800 diet lose a stone-and-a-half in just 12 weeks and reversed his diabetes as a result. BBC Morning Live aired a clip of his wife talking about her late husband this morning (October 21) and revealed “I think reversing his own diabetes” was his proudest achievement.

She fondly recalled: “He was a choca-holic, he asked me to hide the chocolate and I’m still finding chocolate in the broom cupboard, in weird places. He said he didn’t want to go onto medication until he had tried other things.

“One of the big things he was really proud of was to help people lose weight and reverse diabetes – which nobody thought was possible”. In an episode of This Morning, Mosley said: “So the important thing is, we’re talking about type two diabetes rather than type one and that’s the one which is linked to lifestyle.

“And as long as you lose the weight and keep it off, it [diabetes] seems to keep away. I managed to reverse my diabetes in 2012 and here we are eight years on and I’m the same weight I was then and my blood sugars are normal.”

In the show tonight Aly from Staffordshire is looking for a way to help her memory and give her brainpower a boost. The listing says that “trying everything from learning languages to dancing and baking, Aly and her group throw themselves into the challenge. They even get their hands dirty as they try making pottery. Michael’s simple challenge could enhance their creativity, confidence and give their memory a boost, but will Aly and the gang be able stick to their ‘Just One Thing’?”
