A mum has shared a ‘game-changing’ cleaning hack which will help restore your old and grubby baking trays to their former glory – and all you need is a 2p coin

From getting rid of mould in the shower to making your Pandora bracelet sparkle again, we’ve seen a parade of stellar cleaning hacks, each promising to bring our household items back to their shiny best.

But now, it’s an old favourite that’s returned to the spotlight – a handy hack for shifting hard-to-move stains on baking trays, and all without having to put in any hard graft. And the best part? This trick is super affordable, costing just a couple of pence. The money-saving hack was first revealed by Louise Wright on the ‘Hinch Army Cleaning Tips’ Facebook group back in January 2020, as reported by the Mirror.

Louise took to social media to post before-and-after snaps, encouraging followers not to chuck away their stained trays. She wrote: “Don’t bin baking trays. I spend a fortune on baking trays because I buy the cheaper range and they don’t last long before being marked by tough cooking stains. But I tried the 2p trick and it worked.”

Wright excitedly explains the method: “Rub a baking tray with the 2p coin and then wash as you would with the daily dishes. It takes away the burnt marks left from cooking. No more binning and replacing.”

The post quickly went viral, garnering heaps of likes and comments, attracting praise from those who’d tried the cost-saving trick. One user responded: “Fabulous, thank you.” Another chimed in: “OMG the money I’ve wasted throwing them away.”

A third added: “Will give this a go now,” applauding Louise and adding, “Thanks for sharing.” Another person praised the advice as a “game-changer”. Similarly, another user suggested that the 2p trick is equally effective for removing limescale from taps, indicating that the hack’s potential extends beyond just this.
