The brand known for its Japanese soufflé pancakes has opened its first Welsh venue – and it’s already proving popular
Fluffy Fluffy, a brand that’s taken the internet by storm with its Japanese souffle pancakes, has launched its first Welsh outlet. On its opening day, Saturday, October 19, there were massive queues outside the door.
The cafe, located on Cardiff’s Queen Street, offers mouth-watering, oversized pancakes with a variety of toppings and has already become a hit. The queues extended down Queen Street as many were keen to sample the viral pancakes.
The menu boasts a range of flavours and toppings to cater to all tastes, from classic favourites like Nutella and fresh fruit to more adventurous options such as matcha tiramisu and pistachio. Each pancake is freshly made to order with quality ingredients and can be topped with an array of fruits, creams, syrups and house sauces.
In addition to the souffle pancakes, Fluffy Fluffy is also renowned for their ‘croffles’, which are crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, offering a perfect blend of buttery, flaky layers with caramelised edges. For those who prefer savoury treats, there are savoury croffles on offer, including a creamy avocado option, reports Wales Online.
The interior of Fluffy Fluffy’s inaugural Welsh store is painted bright yellow, featuring a combination of booth and table seating. Neon signs showcasing the pancakes adorn the walls, and trendy ball lighting hangs from the ceiling.
The cafe has a relaxed atmosphere and feels spacious and welcoming. On its opening day, Fluffy Fluffy offered a 50 per cent discount on all their pancakes, and we were fortunate enough to sample the delicious pancakes early.
The unique dessert did not disappoint when we tried it. The Nutella strawberry pancake arrived, and it was as wobbly and fluffy as we had imagined.
The Nutella was served in a small jug alongside the strawberries, while the pancake was topped with cream and a Ferrero Rocher. The pancake truly lived up to its Fluffy Fluffy name.
It was warm, light, and airy, with no hint of sogginess. So, if you’re not a fan of overly sweet desserts but are willing to try a dessert café in Cardiff, then Fluffy Fluffy might be just the place for you.
