Passengers have been left divided after a flight attendant played the violin whilst travellers were waiting to disembark a United Airlines flight in New York, America

Passengers have been left divided after a United Airlines crew member played the violin as they disembarked the plane.

A traveller posted a video of the moment on social media platform Reddit, which showed an unnamed airline staff member playing his violin as passengers waited to disembark the aircraft. However, the stunt has left many divided across the web, with some criticising the flight attendant for ‘forcing’ people to listen to his tunes.

The one-and-a-half minute clip shows passengers sitting whilst waiting to get off the United Airlines flight. Some passengers are also seen retrieving their luggage from overhead lockers.

Then a man walks up and down the plane’s aisle, playing a violin. “Fiddler and the friendly skies,” commented the passenger who posted the video. “Just landed in SFO [San Francisco] and heard something as we awaited passengers to deplane… It was a definite pleasant surprise and welcome change compared to all the news we hear from airlines these days.”

However, not everyone was enthralled by the performance. “Yeah, this type of s**t would make me pretty upset on a flight… we’re trapped in a steel tube, and this MF thinks everyone wants to hear his bullshit,” another Reddit user commented.

“What a sly move. He has everyone sitting, captivated by his music, while he slowly walks down the aisle with anyone in his way and exiting the plane first,” added another user. “This would be annoying as hell. Can’t imagine breaking out into song on any instrument on a flight,” a third person stated.

Some however, noted that the music was a nice way to pass the time, with on user commenting: “Of course super mean people as usual telling him to sit down and shut up. My guess is he actually likes the passengers and is very friendly and kind.

“Not like he’s making much with working at one of the lowest paying mainlines. Yet he has a good attitude despite it. How about you stfu? Good day.”

“Should be standard on all flights,” posted another user.

In 2023, a similar performance was delivered on a flight from Dublin in Ireland to New York, America. One female passenger had a fiddle, whilst another man played an accordion — together creating a traditional Irish jig.

Similarly, passengers were divided as many claimed it was an awful thing to subject travellers too. According to the Daily Mail, the video was posted by Adam Singer on X, who stated: “Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to JFK yesterday. I mean, I understand it’s done from a good place, but also feel like you don’t play music (or much worse, sing) in an enclosed space there’s no escape from.”
