Natalie Wolfley and Savannah Sargent were flying home after visiting Salt Lake City for Natalie’s bridal shower – but they were left in total shock after boarding
A woman and her best mate were left in fits of laughter after boarding a flight only to discover they were the only passengers on board.
The duo had the entire aircraft to themselves for the whole journey – leaving them in utter disbelief. Besties Natalie Wolfley and Savannah Sargent were returning home to Phoenix, Arizona, in the US, following Natalie’s bridal shower in Salt Lake City.
Their astonishment peaked when they arrived at the airport and a Southwest Airlines employee informed them that they were the only two who had booked seats on the 173-capacity plane. “He was being so serious,” Natalie recalled, noting that the airline decided to still go ahead with the flight.
“How does that happen? ,” Savannah chimed in, equally shocked. And Natalie added: “I feel VIP… I’m so excited to get on this plane.”
The friends, whose TikTok video recounting the incident has amassed a whopping 5.8 million views – and many were baffled at how this could even happen.
It turns out, flights with minimal or no passengers can proceed as scheduled to reposition planes for subsequent routes, or sometimes to transport flight crew or cargo to their next departure point.
As they boarded, the surprised flight crew also got in on the fun. One flight attendant humorously prefaced each announcement by addressing, “alright, Savannah and Natalie,” over the PA system while gazing directly into Wolfley’s camera.
The besties were over the moon at the prospect of chatting away without worrying about waking up any dozing travellers. Natalie gushed: “We’re going to have the best yap session of my life. No one’s going to hear us. We are 10,000 feet in the air, yapping away, loud as we want on this plane.”
Their adventure reached new heights when they got the rare chance to sit in the cockpit and even snap some photos. The pilot light-heartedly remarked: “They’ve taken over the aircraft.”
Reflecting on their extraordinary outing, Natalie enthused: “That was like the best experience of my life, honestly.” She particularly loved making announcements on the plane, which became her highlight of the trip.
Viewers were left utterly astonished by the video, finding it hard to believe the flight wasn’t cancelled. One person exclaimed: “I’m shocked they didn’t cancel it omg. This is iconic.”
Another praised the airline, saying: “Honestly, shout out to Southwest for not cancelling that flight.” While someone else yearned for similar fortune: “May this type of luck find me.”
A flight attendant even chimed in, confirming: “As a flight attendant I can tell you that is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!”
