Pride is arriving in London this weekend but there are still more celebrations to come— here’s a list of the top Pride events taking place across the UK this summer

As London Pride takes place this weekend there are other Pride celebrations across the country worth visiting throughout the summer.

Celebrated across the globe, Pride Month sees different communities, cultures and age groups come together to create a celebration of the LGBTQIA+ community.

For many years now Pride has been celebrated over the summer months, to commemorate the journey towards equal justice for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community, as well as celebrating the accomplishments of LGBTQ+ individuals.

Here is a selection of some of the remaining Pride events to take place this summer across the UK.

Bristol Pride July 13

One of the key Pride events in July is Bristol’s Pride Day, which will present a headlining mainstage as well as a circus tent. While the Pride parade and main stages are on for one day, Pride in Bristol is a three week celebration.

Over the course of the three weeks, Bristol hosts many exciting activities and events, including Drag Bingo nights, LGBTQ+ tours, and one-off performances.

Belfast Pride July 19

For those in Ireland wanting to head to a Pride event, Belfast Pride begins on July 19, with the parade itself taking place on July 27.

This year’s theme is called ‘Love Your Mind’ in an effort to promote conversations on key mental health topics and issues.

Isle of Wight Pride July 20

One of the newer Pride events, and due to take place from July 20, is the Isle of Wight Pride festival. Originally, the event started in 2017, but has evolved to became a huge gathering on the island.

The island also hosted UK Pride in 2018 after winning a competition to host the event, which moves around the UK each year.

Leeds Pride July 21

Leeds Pride is one of the biggest one-day festivals in Leeds City Centre. It has undoubtedly become a huge contributor to the local economy with over 70,000 visitors last year.

With a film premiere and an array of drag hosts lined up for the event, Leeds Pride promises something for everyone including children.

NottsPride July 27

Notts Pride is entirely by volunteers, who organise the East Midlands’ biggest and all-embracing free Pride event. The event will take place on July 27, where thousands will gather in the city to celebrate Nottinghamshire’s vibrant LGBTQ+ community and ensure its voices are heard.

Brighton and Hove Pride August 3

According to The Guardian, Brighton and Hove Pride is “widely acknowledged as the country’s most popular Pride event”. Over the years, many top artists have performed at Brighton Pride including the likes of Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Dua Lipa and Boy George.

This year’s performers are also of top calibre and include Girls Aloud, Sophie Ellis-Bexter and Mika. There is, of course, also the Pride parade, as well as a Pride dog show and even a Pride campsite if people wish to travel from further afield to take part in the event.

Manchester Pride August 23

Manchester Pride takes place over three days and will be headlined by the Sugababes, and include performances from Rita Ora, Jessie J and two-time Eurovision winner Loreen.

This event also has a culture and arts programme, making it the perfect family friendly event.
