Fans of The Inbetweeners have been hoping for years that the cast will reunite for another special of the iconic sitcom, but it’s claimed there are a number of factors as to why it won’t happen

The Inbetweeners was an iconic sitcom that left its audience in hysterics 10 years ago.

Despite two breakaway movies and a clamour for a reunion, it’s thought those involved in the sixth-form-based sitcom have no desire to return to their hilarious roles. Fans had been hoping a lucrative new deal could see Simon, Jay, Neil and Will, get back together once more, but it seems that is just not going to happen.

Reports suggest the show’s mean cast – James Buckley, Joe Thomas, Blake Harrison and Simon Bird – are far from the tight-knit group that appears on the camera. Instead, insiders claim the group haven’t been pals off-screen for a few years.

Speaking to MailOnline, a source said: “Fans all like to think that they’re best pals in real life but Simon Bird [who played briefcase-carrying geek Will] and Blake Harrison [nice-but-dim Neil] are mega snooty.”

While Simon had previously removed any reunion talk, citing scheduling conflicts as the main reason, it’s thought the group has simply grown apart. After joking that The Beatles would stand a better chance of getting back together, the insider added that despite jealousy creeping in and “cross words” being shared, the boys have simply “moved on with their lives” The were also reports of a bust-up between James, who played Jay, and Emily Atack, who took on the role of Charlotte. A source added that Emily just saw the alleged brief romance as “a bit of fun” and played down any romance.

However, it’s claimed their so-called fling led to Emily being removed from the 2019 Fwends Reunited show in 2019. An insider said: “She didn’t see it as a big deal, it was a bit of fun years ago and they’ve all moved on, but he clearly harbours some sort of grudge. He made it very clear that he wouldn’t share a set with her again in any form. It’s just yet another issue.”

Despite the show being such a huge hit, it’s thought some of the cast are worried how any reunion and return to their childish antics would harm the career they have forged since the show. And a source told the publication that the group simply want to remember the show as being a bit of fun from their youth. “Despite the big-money offers there is no way the four of them will be donning those school uniforms again,” they said.
