Jade Goody’s mum Jackiey Budden has spoken out after it emerged that Jeff Brazier has engaged lawyers to prevent his son Freddy, 20, from seeing his maternal grandmother

Jade Goody’s mum has spoken for the first time since Jeff Brazier locked in lawyers to prevent their son Freddy from seeing his maternal grandmother. Jackiey Budden has had a strained relationship with Jeff, who dated Jade for two years, with the pair having two sons, Bobby, 21, and Freddy, 20.

But in recent days, it was claimed that Jeff had consulted lawyers in a bid to prevent the young model and TV star from seeing Jackiey. Sadly, Jade died aged just 27 in 2009 after a battle with cervical cancer when Bobby was five and Freddy was just four.

Speaking previously, Jackiey said she would wait until her grandchildren were older before she “let rip” against their father, who previously her behaviour had made him feel like a “mean parent”. Now, Jackiey has spoken for the first time since the reports about Jeff taking legal action.

“I know what this is all about,” she said. Jackiey who also appeared on Celebrity Big Brother alongside her late daughter went on to say: “It (the situation with Jeff) doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter.”

“Of course I do,” she said about wanting to see her grandson. “I see Freddy all of the time, I will see him,” she added to the Mail. Jeff, who is known for his appearance on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins, has allegedly hired a barrister to represent him at an imminent hearing in a bid to protect Freddy from “a relationship that has been incredibly detrimental to his wellbeing”. This comes after an ongoing fallout between Jeff and Jade’s mum over the years.

Sources claim that Freddy would often turn up at Jackiey’s home in Bermondsey, southeast London following rows with his dad. “Freddy will often turn up on the doorstep, sometimes very unhappy, and wanting to see his nan,” a source claimed at the time, “He and Jeff often argue, the rows can be bad, things go really, really pear-shaped between them and that’s it, he leaves.

“While Jackiey has her issues – and will be the first to admit she isn’t the most perfect or archetypal grandmother – he can share his feelings with her which is something he can’t do at Jeff’s.”

The father and son duo took part in Celebrity Race Across The World, where both Jeff and Freddie shared their excitement about spending more time together. Jeff had said: “D’you know what I’m most looking forward to about this trip is that I feel like I’m about to learn a lot more about my son … Fred isn’t at home loads and as a result, I don’t see loads of him, but the beauty of this trip is he’s with me.”

Meanwhile, Jade’s widower, Jack Tweed has previously weighed in on the ongoing drama, telling MailOnline: “Jade would not want that. She would just want peace for everybody. That is what is important. I get on with Jeff. We’re not close mates and we don’t speak all the time but it’s all very civil and that is the main thing.”

Bobby previously revealed on Instagram that he was back in contact with his nan in 2021 after the pair lost contact. He told fans: “‘I didn’t see her for ages – for way too long – but I went to see her twice recently. And honestly if there’s one woman you shouldn’t underestimate it’s my nan. Honestly, she’s like a wizard! It’s nuts.”
