People in-the-know are raving about the ‘Hawaii of Spain’, a region unlike most of the rest of the country that you have likely never heard of – and it’s easy to see why people are so keen to go

Travel enthusiasts are urging others to “gatekeep” a little-known region that has been dubbed the “Hawaii of Spain”.

The Vacation Twins, who have more than 16,000 followers on TikTok, recently shared a stunning video of what they described as the “prettiest beach in Spain”. It showcased a stunning scene, with green slopes rolling down onto sparsely-populated sand, and blue waters as far as the eye can see.

Their video included the caption “Hawaii of Spain”, and several people commented to ask exactly where it was. Others urged the twins to keep the location under wraps, as to not spoil it for those in the know.

The beach shown in the video is Playa de Torimbia, and it is just one of several stunning locations that line the coast of Spain’s Asturias region.

Asturias is situated in the north-west of Spain, in a region often referred to as ‘Green Spain’ due to its wet and temperate climate that helps lush greenery grow. It’s famed for its stunning mountain scenery and beautiful beaches including Playa del Silencio – the Beach of Silence.

Playa del Silencio lies in the west of Asturias. According to Asturias.com: “Its name says it all, Playa del Silencio is a silent place where the cliffs close in on themselves, turning the waves of the surroundings into a subtle lullaby […] The protective cliffs, scattered islets on the shore and the special quality and colour of its waters are combined.”

Asturias also boasts the picturesque cities of Gijon and Oviedo, as well as countless quaint fishing villages. Perhaps the most well-known of these is Cudillero, which is famed for its colourful houses.

The Vacation Twins visited Cudillero in another video on TikTok and described it as “the most charming village in Spain”. Their clip showcases the harbour and its clear waters, and racked up more than 56,000 likes.
