Liverpool are still celebrating their Premier League title win, but attention is fully turning towards the summer transfer window. It will be a busy time at Anfield, with several players expected to depart.

There will almost certainly be heavy investment in Arne Slot’s squad, with the Reds hoping to defend their title next season. One man who will steal all the headlines in the first part of the summer is Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The right-back is out of contract at the end of the season and he has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid. The Englishman’s decision over his future is yet to be announced.

But Manchester United legend Paul Scholes believes the Bernabeu should be his choice. Any player edging towards the exit door is Darwin Nunez, with Liverpool finally ready to end their attempts to see him fulfill his club-record transfer fee.

While the duo look set to leave, Harvey Elliott has now insisted he wants to stay at Anfield despite his decreasing playing time. Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest Liverpool news.

Alexander-Arnold urged to leave

Paul Scholes has urged Trent Alexander-Arnold to join Real Madrid. The right-back has been havily linked with a free transfer to the Bernabeu and Scholes believes it would be the perfect move for his career.

“The thing he has to bear in mind is where is he more likely to win trophies for the next few years. I suppose Real Madrid have had a little bit of a slump, but their slumps don’t seem to last that long,” he told TNT Sports.

“So, for Trent, it’s where he thinks he’ll win the most trophies, and you’d probably slightly favour Real Madrid, purely because of their history in the Champions League and not that much competition in the league apart from Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.”

Elliott keen to stay

Harvey Elliott has insisted he wants to fight for his place at Liverpool despite failing to make a Premier League start under Arne Slot this season. The 22-year-old has been linked with a move this summer but has now made his intentions clear.

“I hope that I can push on [next season],” Elliott said. “This is my team, I am committed to them and it’s just a situation that is always going to have a lot of talk. I just need to think about what is best for my future, my career and as much as I want it to be here.

“You never know what is going to happen around the corner. If I had it my way, that would be here, I would play each and every game here and stay here for the rest of my career but it all depends on managers, the people above and as I said you don’t know what could happen but as far as I am aware I am here, here to stay and this is the club I want to be at.”

Nunez edging towards exit

Darwin Nunez is ‘likely to depart’ Liverpool this summer as Arne Slot kicks off a summer rebuild. The Uruguayan has scored just seven goals in all competitions this season.

He has struggled to live up to his £85million price tag, with Liverpool having spent a record sum on him in the summer of 2022. While he still has three years to run on his contract, Reds chiefs have decided it is now time to move on.

While there are still three years to run on his contract, it appears the 25-year-old’s time on Merseyside is up. Reds chiefs are working towards moving Nunez on this summer.

They are also bidding to increase the warchest available to boss Arne Slot after he led them to the Premier League title in his first season in charge. While there are substantial funds for Slot to play with, he would also benefit from any player sales.
