Liverpool are entering the final stages of the transfer window and have yet to sign a player as Arne Slot decides who will remain at Anfield to help him in his bid to win the Premier League

There are just days left of the January transfer window and business still to be done for Liverpool.

The Reds have yet to make any signings this winter and are running out of time to strengthen their hand to help their push for Premier League and Champions League glory. The club still have work to do in terms of exits too as they consider loans for their young stars.

Arne Slot’s attention appears to be on bringing players in during the upcoming summer however. The Dutchman it seems, is happy with his squad for now.

“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well,” he said. “There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad. But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”

Mirror Football takes a look at the latest news and transfer rumours around Anfield.

Loan agreed

Stefan Bajcetic has agreed to complete a loan move to Las Palmas, after ending his time with Red Bull Salzburg. Reports on Thursday suggested the midfielder’s move was being signed off.

Bajcetic joined Salzburg at the start of the season and reunited with ex-Liverpool coach Pep Lijnders. The latter was sacked from his position in December, and the 20-year-old had split his time between the starting lineup and the bench.

There is said to be no option to make the move permanent within the agreement with Las Palmas. The Athletic also report that the youngster chose to make the move to La Liga over Porto. The initial plan for Bajcetic was to stay with Salzbug until after the Club World Cup this summer.

Arne Slot transfer meeting

Liverpool boss Arne Slot was scheduled to have a transfer meeting with Richard Hughes on Thursday. The Dutchman was set to deliberate over the the group of players he would like to continue with for the remainder of the season.

The Reds must make a decision on the likes of Jayden Danns, while the meeting almost definitely saw Slot confirm that he wants to keep James McConnell at Anfield. The ex-Feyenoord boss was convinced by his performance in the Champions League.

Slot said: “But there’s definitely one that will not go out on loan: James McConnell. I liked him a lot today. Maybe the end result today would be good for him to go and play (elsewhere) but he is a player who hasn’t played a lot in the last six or seven months as he was injured for a while. He impressed me a lot today.

“He is competitive in the training sessions we had, he is always very competitive. I’m not surprised (by how he played), but you always wonder how you will react at this level.”

Saudi Arabia charm offensive

The Saudi Minister of Sport Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal has admitted it would be a ‘privilege’ to see Mohamed Salah play in the Middle East. Salah is in the final six months of his Liverpool deal with Al-Hilal emerging as a contender to prise him away from Anfield.

Turki Al-Faisal told Piers Morgan Uncensored : “He’s the most high profile Muslim player in the world. He’s arguably one of the best two or three players in the world. He hasn’t signed a new contract yet. Is he? Is he the big prize?”

He added: “Well, definitely, because if he ticks all the right boxes, even for us, we’d love to have him. He’s, you know, he’s Egyptian, and we have a very good relationship, and we feel like we are one with the Egyptians as well, from our culture and our history and so on.

“So to haveMo Salahor other players that are good role models would be, you know, a pleasure and a privilege to have in the Saudi League. Will it happen or not? That’s up to the clubs to decide and to see what negotiations go on.”
