A Love Island fan favourite who dramatically walked out of the villa last summer has reportedly signed up to appear on the next series of the BBC’s Celebrity MasterChef
Love Islander Uma Jammeh is set to swap her bikini for a chef apron after reportedly signing up for latest series of Celebrity MasterChef.
The 23-year-old reality star bid an emotional farewell to her fellow Islanders on last summer’s series after her love interest Wil Anderson was booted out after a dramatic recoupling.
However, the pair have gone from strength to strength since leaving the villa and have been living together for the last six months. But model and influencer Uma could be about to pack her bags for a while as she takes “the next step in her career” by joining the Celebrity MasterChef line-up.
“Uma is a great get for the show, as not only is she stunning, she’s also funny and will appeal to younger viewers,” a source claimed to The Sun. “It’s also the perfect next step for her career as it introduces her to a whole new audience who may not be familiar with her from Love Island.”
Uma and Wil had a bit of a rollercoaster journey on their Love Island series but appear to still be going strong. On Tuesday (February 11) Uma posted a selfie of the two of them on her Instagram account to mark Wil’s 24th birthday, and captioned the smiling snap: “Happy birthday my lover @wilandersonn here’s to many more x”.
Uma followed her heart – and Wil – out of the villa last summer after newcomer Reuben Collins chose to couple up with her, leaving Wil single. Fans were shocked that she didn’t give her romance with Reuben a chance, and chose instead to stick with her original partner and tearfully leave the show.
Speaking afterwards, she revealed she’d felt an “instant connection” with Wil, adding: “I knew where my head and heart was at and it’s with Wil so I wanted to be true to my feelings for him. We can’t wait to just do normal things on the outside, stay inside and have a takeaway and go on cute dates.
“Wil wants to take me to Whitley Bay to see where he’s from, but we’ve also discussed him possibly moving to London so I’m looking forward to the future with him. The only way is up from here.”
The 20th series of Celebrity MasterChef is set to air later this year and the BBC recently announced its replacement for Gregg Wallace, who left the long-running show after a recent internal review.
Food critic Grace Dent will now be putting their celebrities through their paces alongside John Torode and she has described the new gig as “more than a dream come true.”
“I’ve been watching MasterChef since I was a girl sitting with my dad on the sofa,” she shared recently. “My whole family watches it. It’s all about uncovering and championing talent and to have ended up in this position, is more than a dream to me. I’m so excited that I can’t eat, which is severely detrimental to a restaurant critic.
