Best pals and former MAFS stars Whitney Hughes and April Banbury ended up in a physical altercation which led to Whitney needing to visit hospital to treat her injuries
Married At First Sight UK stars Whitney Hughes and April Banbury have reportedly ended their close friendship after they were embroiled in a physical fight.
The pair first met while on the show back in 2022 and formed a strong bond to the point they became “like sisters.” However, a source close to Whitney has claimed that April instigated an argument which soon erupted into a fight – which had to be split up.
The alleged incident occurred when Whitney and April were reportedly having a fun evening at April’s house, shooting content for social media. But things took a dramatic turn for the worse, leaving Whitney needing to visit A&E. A source told the MailOnline: “The girls were at Aprils having fun doing TikTok’s and everything was good between them. April hugged Whitney, then walking away called her a “f***ing b***h” under her breath.”
They added: “Whitney was baffled by the comment and asked her why she said it, and April started screaming that she “f***king hates her” and charged at Whitney, grabbing her throat. She was full of rage out of nowhere. Thankfully two friends who were at the party stopped it. Whitney was really devastated and shocked. The following morning she had to visit A&E due to her neck hurting and being bruised.”
Since their huge fall out, the former best pals have unfollowed each other on social media including Instagram and have deleted many of the pictures of them together. Whitney recently took to social media to tell her followers that she was taking a break – but didn’t name April as the reason. She wrote: “Being assaulted by someone I loved and trusted was a massive shock, and something I needed to process”
And the source added: “She still doesn’t get why April did it. They have been really close since meeting on MAFS and always said they were like sisters. It’s crazy that April exploded like that out of nowhere.’ Whitney was partnered with Duka Cavolli during her stint on the show, while April married George Roberts. However, Whitney struggled to form a connection with Duka and ended up with her fellow contestant Matt Murray. April, who is no longer dating George Roberts, has said that she was left needing therapy following her time on the show.
She also claimed that producers need to do more background checks on the contestant after her partner was arrested by police for controlling and coercive behaviour in September 2022. At the time Worcester police released a statement: “A 40-year-old man was arrested by Met officers in Worcestershire on Thursday, 29 September on suspicion of controlling and coercive behaviour.
It continued: “He was taken to a Worcestershire police station and was initially bailed to return pending further enquiries. He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continued: “This follows an allegation of controlling and coercive behaviour and harassment reported to the Met on Monday, 26 September.”
