Jeremy Renner has shared a poignant message online as he marked the second anniversary of a snow plow accident which almost killed him. The Marvel star, 53, shared his gratitude via a lengthy Instagram post on New Year’s Day as he candidly praised the people who had helped him to come back from the devastating injury, which included relearning to walk.
The Hawkeye actor was rushed to hospital on New Year’s Day back in 2023 after being crushed by a snow plow near to his home in Nevada. As a result of the incident, he broke more than 30 bones and at one point medics feared his injuries may prove fatal, but fate had other plans.
Commemorating the anniversary of his accident Jeremy wrote: “Happy New Year blessings to you all…. Ringing in my second “ReBirthday” today I send out my love, respect, and gratitude for the army of people that it took to put me back together again.

“Thank you to each and every nurse, doctor, first responder… I literally owe you my life . All my heart goes out to my beautiful, brave nephew and the angels (my neighbors) who jumped to my aid and endured the chaos for 45 long minutes on the icy asphalt New Years morning. I’m so sorry all the haunting images I imprinted on you all (I’ll spare you all from the meat grinding images )….”
He continued: ”My gratitude list is very long …. With the amount of love and prayers that flooded in from you all around the world (needing each and everyone of them), my family never leaving my side, with some divine intervention, a bit of luck and a whole lot of miracles … I stand strong again. More Open. More Loved. More Connected. And f–king BLESSED to take my next step, to take MY NEXT BREATH. Thank you with every fiber and cell in my body. I love you ALL . #MyNextBreath.”
Alongside the post, Jeremy also went on to share a photo of his time in hospital, surrounded by the doctors, nurses and hospital staff that had helped to save his life.
During the January 2023 accident, the actor was crushed by a snow-removal vehicle weighing over 14,330 pounds, while trying to clear snow with his nephew at the start of the year. In total Renner suffered more than 38 broken bones, including six broken ribs in 14 places, a broken tibia, a shattered right knee, broken jaw, and broken clavicle, as well as a punctured liver and a collapsed lung.
Recalling the incident last year, he told Men’s Health: “I remember every undulation. I remember my head cracking on the thing and it just pressing on me — it’s exactly like you think it would feel. An immovable object and a crushing force, and something’s gotta give. But thank God my skull didn’t fully give.”
