Miranda Hart, 52, says she cries “pretty much every day” and her husband, Richard Fairs, has become accustomed to finding her having a “weep” at the kitchen table
Miranda Hart has opened up about her emotional nature, revealing that her husband Richard Fairs often catches her in tears at the kitchen table.
The 52-year-old telly favourite confesses to shedding tears “pretty much every day”. Initially, Richard was worried about Miranda’s frequent crying, but he’s now gotten used to it.
Miranda explains that she is a “highly sensitive person,” meaning she feels life’s experiences more deeply than some. Psychology Today notes that an estimated 10 to 15 percent of people are considered “highly sensitive”.
She believes this trait is something she inherited from her father, Naval officer David Hart Dyke, although she acknowledges that her mother, Diana Luce, found it difficult to comprehend.
On the Therapy Works podcast, Miranda shared: “I have a weep pretty much everyday, certainly every other day, usually a weep of joy but sometimes my husband will find me just sitting at the kitchen table and he’s got used to it now. Normally he would rush like ‘oh my god, are you alright? ‘ but I’m just letting something go, I’m absolutely fine, it’ll be over in five minutes,” reports Leicestershire Live.
“Now he just comes in ‘hello’ and the tears are pouring down. He doesn’t bat an eyelid. But my mother never understood that.”
Miranda is widely recognised for her self-titled BBC sitcom Miranda. Her career boasts roles in several popular TV series, including Call The Midwife, Not Going Out, Smack the Pony, The Vicar of Dibley, and Absolutely Fabulous.
Miranda Hart has revealed that she tied the knot with her partner Richard in a secret ceremony last year. The actress and comedian, who started dating Richard in 2020, made the announcement in her book I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You.
During an appearance on The One Show, Miranda spoke about her marriage, saying: “I’m married, I got married at 51 and it’s just so lovely. I’d written Gary for onscreen Miranda and it wasn’t until I was 49 that I met my person. He’s my best friend, we had the best fun and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.”
Miranda is set to appear on Michael McIntyre’s Big Show on BBC One tonight at 6:50pm, alongside darts champion Luke Littler and M People singer Heather Small.
