A woman is tense after her neighbour repeatedly drove over her front lawn, causing tyre track damage – and she’s desperate for it to stop.

The vast majority of people are keen to live peacefully among our neighbours. Living near trustworthy people who happily watch out for our homes while we’re away on holiday, or those with whom friendships blossom, can often make life that much more enjoyable and manageable.

But forging amicable ties with neighbours can sometimes prove challenging. In the distressing event of a disagreement, daily life can become incredibly uncomfortable – there’s no simple way to avoid those who live just doors away.

One woman is struggling with a new neighbour’s careless attitude towards driving; they consistently cross over onto her front garden, leaving chaos behind.

Turning to Reddit for guidance, the woman sought suggestions on how to handle the problem. She wrote: “My new neighbour keeps running over my front lawn, any suggestions as to what to do?”

Admitting to her soft-spoken nature and her wish to avoid conflict, she added: “I’m not a very confrontational person and not looking to cause problems but I am upset.”

Her post included a photo showing the damaged area of her lawn with deeply embedded tyre tracks next to the paving stones leading to what appears to be the culprit’s driveway.

The woman’s post sparked a flurry of responses from the Reddit community, offering their perspectives and solutions. Among the replies, one user recommended: “Big a** parking/landscaping boulders.”

Another commenter shared: “I was thinking just a line of big rocks right there.” A third suggested: “You don’t have to be confrontational to say ‘hey, not sure if you noticed, but you’re driving over my lawn’.

“How they respond to that will dictate next steps. If they’re not an a**hole, ‘oh, I’m sorry, I’ll be more careful’, if it’s a ‘so what’ answer, then you need some decorative landscaping rocks about the size of a beach ball.

“There’s a large percentage of people who have cars and trucks that have no clue how big their vehicle is and drive over stuff all the time without knowing.”

Another advised: “If you aren’t willing to do anything about it, they will continue to drive over your lawn. If you want the ‘least confrontational’ option the best bet is a mid size decorative fencing all around your yard and hope they don’t run over it.”

They cautioned: “However, put a camera up in case they decide to drive over it again and destroy it, keep the receipts in case, for the fencing.”

Another shared a personal anecdote: “My old neighbourhood had a house that put super sharp decorative rocks along their lawn in this one particular area where people kept driving on it.

“Every once in a while, we drive-through and we would see pieces of a vehicle where they ran it over and tore up their vehicle. I never saw a popped tire, but I’m pretty sure they could have.

“They reminded me of what the state uses when they put them on hills to stop the erosion, but smaller and sharper.”
