Nowadays you might learn a lot from the internet and the latest left many people divided. In an X ( formerly Twitter) post, it showed why you shouldn’t park in front of a fire hydrant

You might put little thought into where you park your car, but it turns out some places are off-limits.

For example, parking in front of a drive is only going to infuriate the homeowner. Even leaving your vehicle in some spots could ruffle a few feathers on your neighbourhood. Now did you know why you shouldn’t park in front of a fire hydrant?

Over on X, formerly Twitter, the reason behind it has been revealed – and some people are rather divided about what they just saw. It was shared on the Today Years Old account which boasts 1million followers and the post garnered 257,200 views.

The post read: “I was today years old when I found out that this is the reason why you don’t park in front of fire hydrants.” Accompanying the caption was a video which showed firemen breaking into a car window to be able to access the fire hydrant next to it.

Imagine showing up to your car, only to find the windows have been smashed in… Harsh right? Now since it was shared, it attracted plenty of comments from people who thought the situation was rather extreme.

One said: “Bloke on a massive ego trip. Would have been easier and more efficient to just go around it. The car wasn’t directly in front of it at all.” Another added: “That was completely unnecessary.”

Although others understood the reasoning as one said: “Yup. Don’t do it.” Someone else added: “Got what they deserved. I only wish they were it down to to make sure the hose went through smoothly.” Then a third joked: “It’s not the reason, it’s the consequence.”

According to UK laws, it is illegal to obstruct a fire hydrant, but the offence is only commented when the water supply is required for firefighters. In the event of an emergency, a firefighter is empowered to move the car, so can do so by breaking a window and releasing the handbrake.

So that’s a very good reason you shouldn’t park in front of a fire hydrant…
