Amazon has reduced the price of the PlayStation 5 Slim ahead of the new PS5 Pro launch

Gamers can snap up a new PlayStation 5 console at its lowest-ever price with a new Amazon deal. The PS5 Slim Digital Console is currently available for £334, saving shoppers £55.99 from the usual £389.99 price tag.

This is the cheapest it’s ever been, according to Amazon price tracker camelcamelcamel. The deal is also available at Very, while Currys and Argos offer it for £339 and £339.99 respectively.

Sony launched the Slim version of its PS5 in November 2023, three years after the release of its larger counterpart. As the name suggests, the Slim is a more compact version of the standard PS5, coming in 24 per cent lighter and 30 per cent smaller.

It also boasts 1TB of storage compared to the previous model’s 825GB and a second USB-C port, along with 4K graphics and HDR technology. It also comes with Sony’s DualSense wireless controller that offers haptic feedback and adaptive trigger functionality.

Gamers can get a PlayStation 5 Slim for its lowest-ever price as Amazon has slashed the price of the console to £344.

It’s worth noting that, as a digital console, the PS5 Slim cannot be used to play discs or watch films on Blu-ray. You can pick up a PS5 disc drive for the console from HMV for £99.99, but it works out cheaper to buy the PS5 Slim disc model for £424 from Amazon.

The deal comes ahead of the launch of Sony’s new PS5 Pro, which is set to be released on November 7. It is said to feature the ‘most impressive visuals’ ever possible on a PlayStation, according to Sony, with advanced ray tracing, super sharp image clarity for a 4K TV and support for 8K gaming.

It also boasts high frame rate gameplay up to 120Hz and a whopping 2TB of storage. The PS5 Pro is available to preorder from £699 from retailers including Amazon, Game and Very.

Elsewhere, gamers can now play their PS5 games on-the-go with the PlayStation Portal, the handheld device that gives access to the games on your PS5 over WiFi. Shoppers can snap up the portable console at Game for £199.99.
