The technology giant has launched a Wicked-themed music frame speaker to celebrate the upcoming launch of hit musical’s the film adaptation staring Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo – as it hits UK cinemas on November 22

With anticipation for the new film adaptation of the hit musical Wicked growing by the day leading up to its release on November 22, Samsung has jumped on the bandwagon (joining M&S, OPI, Crocs and more) to launch an epic Wicked-themed speaker that is perfect for fans of the show.

Now, it is a device that’s a bit of an investment for fans of the show as the Music Frame WICKED Edition HW-LS60UD Wireless Smart Speaker costs £519 – although, as stated on the brand’s website, you can get £120 off this frame with a special code WF120. This offer is valid until November 19 – so you snag the musical frame for £399.

The limited edition Music Frame WICKED Edition Package comes with three special photo inserts which feature the two main characters depicted by Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda. Inside the picture options, there is one exclusive option too, making this speaker all the more special.

And once your Wicked obsession subsides following the film (although it’ll never cease to exist), you can swap out the Wicked pictures for a personal fave of your own (photos must be 203mm(w) x 254mm(h)).

But that’s not all as the bezel (frame) is decorated with a very subtle nod to Wicked – on the side, it has a Wicked emblem with a broom crossing over Glinda’s staff with a star and moon at either end. Next to it, is the Wicked tag in its distinct font.

The music player can stream your favourite tracks wirelessly via Bluetooth or wifi (directly from your favourite apps, including Amazon Alexa) and its three-way speaker (and patented wave guide technology) ensures a balanced sound around the room – ideal for blasting the Wicked soundtrack, no?

Especially as its Wireless Dolby Atmos technology delivers a cinematic 3D surround sound effect matched to your room. Its spaceFit sound pro in the device “listens to the acoustics of your room and automatically improves the equalisation of your smart speaker”.

Fans of TV and film can wirelessly connect their Wicked speaker to their telly too to enjoy this surround sound as you watch your favourite show or movie thanks to its Q-Symphony technology. It can work in conjunction with your television speaker as well as any soundbars you may have to give your room even more of a cinematic feel.

Although, it’s important to note that this is only compatible with selected Y22-24 Samsung TVs (The Frame). The adaptive sound in the speak too uses advanced AI to tweak the audio to match what you’re watching, be that a sports game or your favourite film.

While it’s not yet received many reviews, one five star fan of the product said it delivered a ‘wonderful connection and sound’. They added: “Spectacular. Frame with ideal measurements.” Although they did comment the “price [is] a little excessive.”

Elsewhere, those who have got their hands previously on the Music Frame HW-LS60D Wireless Smart Speaker – without the Wicked limited edition stamp, but with all the same benefits – love the sound of the music frame but also how chic it looks in their home, easily blending in on the wall.

They said: “I love that it is compact and looks just like a picture frame it blends in with my decor! Must have item.” Another raved: “I bought our 1st Music Frame for the house, we just love using it. Stunning sound and so easy to use with SmartThings or through my phone.

“Sleek design with amazing sound quality clarity and balance,” added another. While many loved the device for its clarity of sound, one person wasn’t that fussed on it and said: “My honest opinion of this Samsung music frame is that it’s really just a regular picture frame with nice speakers on it. In other words, it’s a finesse and looks Babylon to me.”

Alternatively, if you’re after a ‘good surround speaker’ that’s not tailored to Wicked fans, IKEA’s Symfonisk Picture Frame with Wifi speaker is a hit for £220. For something cheap and cheerful, Argos’ Swipe Sound Frame Bluetooth Speaker – Black is £40 and with a 5W delivers ‘high quality sound and connects wirelessly via Bluetooth’. With a lovely web-print design on the front, it’ll look chic in your home.
