Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been followed by engagement rumours since the early days of their relationship, but insiders say the couple has their own ideas about how and when Travis will pop the question
Insiders close to Taylor Swift, 35, have spoken out about rumours she’s secretly engaged to NFL star Travis Kelce, 35.
Rumours were most recently stirred when fans claimed to have spotted an odd detail in photos that seemed to be from Taylor’s 35th birthday party. In some of the snaps, Taylor held up a cocktail as she posed with her pals. A particularly keen Swiftie zoomed in on the pics and spotted that Taylor’s ring finger seemed “blurred” in the images.
The fan took their theory to Instagram, spreading the belief that Taylor may have had the images edited to remove an engagement ring to hide the fact Travis had asked her to marry him. However, sources close to the couple have claimed that they aren’t engaged yet, and that fans need to “chill” and let them move at their own pace.
One source told the Daily Mail that Taylor and Travis found the frequent rumours of their engagement “extremely humorous,” and pointed out that the fan theories had kicked off very early in their relationship. “They are both aware of the fact that the whole world is so thirsty for them to be engaged and, while Taylor does want a white wedding one day, her friends just feel like people need to chill and let them be a couple,” they said.
The insider also added that while Taylor and Travis would of course one day let their fans know if they plan to tie the knot, they’re going to hold their cards close to their chests and “will have elaborate plans in place to ensure secrecy.” Despite the couple’s fame, the source shared that people close to Taylor and Travis “respect” their wishes, and so they feel safe in the knowledge that no one will leak anything they don’t want the public to know.
While Travis had his own level of fame playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s nothing compared to his level of notoriety as Taylor’s beau. A second source explained how while Travis tends to stay away from stories about him and Taylor, it can’t always be avoided. “And he finds some of it hilarious because he knows how much the world wants this to happen. At times it can be overwhelming for him,” they shared.
Meanwhile, a third source described how Taylor and Travis are both aware of how invested fans are in their relationship, and get “briefed” on any major rumours. However, they said that the couple doesn’t let the rumours get in the way of the natural flow of their relationship. They said: “It is just a part of their lives that they don’t dwell on because it takes away from how special it will be when it actually happens.” Most importantly, the source suggested that the A-list couple was very much keen to settle down together, but that they were sticking to their guns and wouldn’t let fans push them one way or the other.
“Travis has ideas, he would love to be engaged and married to Taylor, he is in love. She is in love with him,” they said, adding that the engagement would happen “when people least expect it,” and that even Taylor wanted to be surprised by the big moment. Travis has ideas but he isn’t going to be rushed to do it, because when he does it, it will be on his own terms and it will be the most special moment of his life,” they divulged.
